Access to the Baines' Camp

The Baines' camp has its own registered private airstrip (S19.37.23 E023.16.42), which is located approximately 45 - 60 minutes from the camp depending on the water level in the delta.

The camp is accessible by air from Maun (about 15minutes), Kasane (about 1 hour 30 minutes) and all other delta camps. Please note the luggage restriction is 12kgs per person in a soft-sided bag.

Nestled amongst the shady trees and water of the magnificent Okavango Delta in Botswana, Southern Africa, the exclusive Baines' Camp features five luxurious suites which are set on elevated platforms in the tree line. This region of Botswana is situated on a private concession neighbouring the Moremi and is therefore ideal for viewing all animal and bird species. This luxurious game lodge is named after the famed nineteenth century explorer and artist, Thomas Baines.

The Baines' Camp is located on the Boro River, in the 260 000 acre private concession NG32, neighbouring the Moremi Game Reserve.

Accommodation at Baines' Camp

Wooden decks offer beautiful views over the permanent water of the Boro River and a lagoon . The elevated suites feature a luxury bedroom, with softly draped fabrics adding the romantic touch of a bygone era. Avid astronomers will delight in stargazing from the privacy of their own deck.

The Baines' camp offers 5 suites which are set on elevated platforms with wooden decks offering stunning views over the permanent water of the Boro River. The suites feature a luxury bedroom, en-suite facilities & private viewing deck. The four-posterbeds are fully mobile, giving guests the choice toslumber under star laden skies. Each room is equipped with a hairdryer, ceilingfan, in-room safe and minibar.

The main area of Baines' Camp features an oversize deck for outdoor dining and views over the permanent water of the lagoon, as well as a swimming pool.

Activities

This particular region of Botswana is situated on a private concession neighbouring the Moremi and is therefore superb for viewing all animal and bird species. Guests may explore the wild animal kingdom by land and water. Game drives often lead into the night to discover the nocturnal species. The permanent water of the Baines' camp reveals a world of floating safaris, at the gentle pace of a poled dug-out canoe. Guests can also choose the alternative of a faster comfortable shaded motorboat, which is subject to water levels. Many waterways, feathery beds of papyrus, large and small animals are waiting to be discovered by the adventurous traveller.
