The five star Phinda Game Lodge is situated in the game rich Phinda Game Reserve in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
Shotton Game Ranch (belonging to Edith Cunningham) has been incorporated into the Phinda Private Game Reserve. The 1,000ha property was formerly a part of neighboring ‘Lulubush’. The incorporation of this land is of great conservation significance as the Munyawana River, which flows through Phinda and is an important source of fresh water for Lake St. Lucia, is now fully protected as well as the floodplain at the confluence of the Munyawana and Mzinene Rivers. Shotton is incredibly diverse for its size – riverine vegetation, acacia woodland, broadleaf woodland, Sand Forest, palm veld and floodplains are all present. The additional land will provide great game viewing opportunities as it will no doubt be well utilized by black and white rhino, elephant and buffalo. Leopard is frequently encountered along the Munyawana River.
