Directions from Cape Town
Route 1:
Take the N2 highway out of Cape Town and drive east for 348 km. Once you get to a small town called Albertinia the entrance to the Garden Route Game Lodge will be 7km after this town.
Route 2:
Take the N1 out of Cape Town and exit onto Route 60 at Worcester, drive through the winemaking regions of Ashton and Robertson and join the N2 at Swellendam. Drive east on the N2 for 120 km. Once you get to a small town called Albertinia the entrance to the Garden Route Game Lodge will be 7km after this town.

Directions from George

Take the N2 highway and head west for 85 km. Once you cross over the Gouritz River Bridge (Bungy Jumping) the entrance to the Lodge will be 12 km after the bridge.

The Garden Route Game Lodge nestles in the beautiful malaria free, Big Five Private Game Reserve off the N2 highway, 7 kilometers away from the town of Albertina on the Garden Route in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. This privately owned game reserve and lodge can be reached within a 3½ scenic hours drive from Cape Town and is located approximately 1 hour from George. Due to its easy accessibility, the Garden Route Game Lodge is an ideal base for a getaway from which to explore the wonders of the Garden Route.

It is home to an abundance of animal and birdlife and provides for a great safari destination when travelling between Cape Town and the Port Elizabeth coastline of South Africa.

The 16 spacious Main Lodge rooms at the Garden Route Lodge combine elegance and comfort with an African theme. Complete with en suite bathrooms, the Lodge rooms lead onto a West-facing balcony from where magnificent views and African sunsets can be enjoyed.

The Lodge's 18 well-appointed luxury thatched chalets offer exclusivity, comfort and spectacular views of the waterhole. Wildlife and game drives at the Garden Route Game Lodge

The exciting early morning and evening safaris at the Garden Route Game Lodge are led by experienced and knowledgeable game rangers who share their knowledge of big game as well as the many other antelope species, birdlife and local African folklore. The Garden Route Private Game Reserve is currently home to giraffe, white rhino, lion, elephant, buffalo, kudu, zebra, wildebeest and 24 more species which make up a total of more than 400 animals.

Lions of the Garden Route Game Lodge

The Garden Route Game Lodge is home to 7 lions, which originally came from the Shamwari game reserve in the Eastern Cape. When the Garden Route Game Lodge was started in 2000, provision was made to accommodate the lions and provide them with a sanctuary where they would be protected. The lions have adapted well to their new environment in the Western Cape.

Elephants of the Garden Route Game Lodge

The reserve's elephants were translocated from the Kruger National Park and were introduced to the Garden Route Game Reserve in 2001. Both elephants are orphans which survived the last cull that took place in Kruger National Park in 1994 after which culling was discontinued.

Cheetah Conservation Center

The Cheetah Conservation Center at the Garden Route Game Lodge was established in 2002 to provide visitors with an insight into the plight of this critically endangered species.

Reptile Center

One of the main attractions at the Garden Route Game Lodge is a tour of the Reptile Center where the resident curator shares his knowledge of over 26 species of snakes, crocodiles and other cold blooded creatures.
