As malaria is endemic to Limpopo and Mpumalanga region where Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp is situated, it is essential to ensure that anti-malarial precautions to be taken throughout the year. Directions

From Johannesburg or Pretoria

Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp is easily accessed by a good tar road from Johannesburg or Pretoria and will take approximately 6 hours. From Johannesburg, continue on the N12 East in the direction of Witbank. From Pretoria, continue on the N4 East in the direction of Witbank.
  • Continue past Witbank towards Belfast
  • Exit the N4 at the Belfast intersection, enter the town and turn right at the second stop sign in the direction of Dullstroom (R540)
  • Pass through Dullstroom towards Mashishing (Lydenburg)
  • At Mashishing the R540 becomes the R36
  • Continue on the R36 for 52km towards Orighstad
  • Pass through Orighstad on the R36 and continue towards the Abel Erasmus Pass
  • Shortly after crossing the Blyde River, turn right in the direction of Orpen/Swadini (R531)
  • Approximately 10km further, do not take the right turn to Swadini but continue straight in the direction of Klaserie. Ignore the turnoff to Hoedspruit.
  • Continue past Klaserie, and turn left at the Orpen signpost and continue until you see the Manyeleti Reserve sign (approximately 36km)
  • Pass the South African Wildlife College on your left and just further on you will see the Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp sign, turn right to enter the reserve.
  • Proceed on for 200m to the Manyeleti entrance gate where a nominal entrance fee is payable.
  • If you miss the turnoff to the Manyeleti reserve you will arrive at the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park some 4km's further. You will need to turn around and find the Manyeleti reserve entrance on the left hand side as you head back.
Once in the reserve follow the Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp signs to the camp, approximately 5km down a sand road. You will arrive at Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp.

Guests staying at Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp will park their vehicles at Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp, and then be taken to Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp by game viewing vehicles.

By Air

Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp is easily accessed by air.

South African Airlines offers the following flights which are subject to change ( www.flysaa.com):
O R Tambo International Johannesburg - Hoedspruit Airport
O R Tambo International Johannesburg - Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport
O R Tambo International Johannesburg - Phalaborwa Airport
Cape Town - Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport

It is recommended to fly directly from O R Tambo International Johannesburg to Hoedspruit. There are two daily flights to Hoedspruit Airport. Transfers can be arranged from Hoedspruit Airport and take approximately 40 minutes.

Load transfers between the various airports and Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp can also be arranged. Alternatively, scheduled or private charter flights may be arranged to and from Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp, as the property has its own private airstrip.

MANYELETI GAME RESERVE /

The Manyeleti Game Reserve in South Africa is borders the Kruger National Park and is situated between the Timbavati and the Sabi Sand Reserve. The Manyeleti game reserve, which means "the Place of the Stars", is a true Big Five reserve. It is home to Honeyguide's two tented camps: Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp and Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp.

Honeyguide Khoka Moya

12 tents with King / Twin sized beds

Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp is situated on both sides of a riverbed, and offers an authentic African experience without sacrificing luxury, safety or comfort. Simply designed and built of corrugated iron, the large colourful lounge and dining areas of the camp overlook green lawns leading to the swimming pool.

Honeyguide Khoka Moya comprises 12 large tents furnished in a contemporary yet comfortable style. Each tent is en-suite with king sized bed with a double shower and separate toilet. A private outdoor seating area in front each tent allows guests to relax and take in sights and sounds of the bush.

Honeyguide Khoka Moya welcomes children of all ages. The rates at Honeyguide include accommodation, all meals and beverages, including wine, as well as activities.

The large tents at Khoka Moya measure some 60 square meters and can comfortably house a family of four, all under the protection of mosquito nets.

Honeyguide Mantobeni

12 tents with King / Twin sized beds

Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp is designed to reflect Hemingways' Africa. The 12 Nehru-styled tents are nestled in a Tamboti grove overlooking a dry river bed. The reception areas comprise a large sitting area, indoor and outdoor areas, bar and climate controlled wine cellar. Game visiting the nearby watering hole can be seen from the swimming pool deck adjoining the reception areas. The tents are comfortably furnished with king-sized beds and soft leather couches. Each tent leads onto its own bathroom with concrete bath, double shower and separate toilet.

Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp only accommodates children over the age of 12 years. The rates at Honeyguide include accommodation, all meals and beverages, including wine, as well as activities.

Children at the Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps, Manyeleti Game Reserve

Children are welcome at the Honeyguide Khoka Moya tented camp and may participate on the game drives with their parents. The large tents at Khoka Moya measure some 60 square meters and can comfortably accommodate a family of four, all under the protection of mosquito nets.

Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp provides an educational program for children of all ages. Parents wishing to visit a luxury private camp in the greater Kruger National Park area are able to find peace of mind that their children are welcome and cared for at the Honeyguide Tented Safari Camp.

The children's program includes a children's activity centre, which is supervised by the camp staff where children may engage in a variety of activities. Upon arrival the children are given a tee shirt with the Honeyguide name, younger children are handed colouring in books. Bead making and cookie making in the kitchen are some of the children activities. There are some basic sporting implements such as soccer and cricket, the swimming pool has a wading area and inflatable arm bans are supplied if required.

Activities

Qualified and experienced guides track game from open safari vehicles every morning and evening. Guests may also join the guides for a short hike after breakfast each day. Visitors also have the opportunity to relax at the bar or swimming pool or to spot game at the nearby waterhole. Each camp at the Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps provide a small but diverse selection of books in the lounge area for guest use.

Game Lodge Itinerary

Lunch is served at about 14h30.

At about 16:00 the afternoon game drive starts. The drive takes approximately 3 hours following a drinks stop to watch the sunset.

Dinner is served back at camp at about 19:30.

The morning game drive is early at about 6 am - but guests are woken up with tea or coffee in their luxury tents.

The morning game drive is also about 3 hours with a refreshment stop.

After the game drive, and a big breakfast, guests normally have time to relax by the swimming pool or in their luxury tents.

Climate

From October to April it is very warm, most people wear shorts and a T-shirt during the day and put on long sleeved shirts and long pants in the evening for warmth as well as protection from mosquitoes. Should one be particularly sensitive to the sun a loose cotton shirt is essential during the day. Khaki, brown, olive and beige colours are best for and safaris and game walks.

From May to September it is advisable that one packs a very warm jacket as it is very cold in mornings and nights. It is also advisable that one packs a scarf and gloves.
