Gondwana Kalahari Park in Namibia, Southern Africa

Green acacias and yellow grass on the red sand dunes, which extend over hundreds of kilometres, characterize the Kalahari National Park in Namibia. The Gondwana Kalahari Park provides travellers with unforgettable impressions of the largest continuous stretch of sand on earth. This park is 100 kmē in size and is located 30 km north-east of Mariental. Animals such as springbok, gemsbok and ostrich as well as jackal, hare and porcupine inhabit the dunes and dune valleys. Travellers have the chance to take pictures of the Kori bustard which is the largest flying bird of all as well as the weaver birds' nests which take up entire trees.

The dunes of the Kalahari desert in Namibia are only 15 meters to 30 meters high, but are hundreds of kilometres long. The sand, remnant of mountain ranges which have long since disappeared, was deposited in southern Africa's interior over millions of years and forms the largest continuous stretch of sand on earth. Constant winds 'swept' the sand into long dunes running parallel to one another. This magnificent landscape of red dunes and yellow savannah is home to many animals, such as Oryx antelope, springbok, bat-eared fox and ostrich.
