- Providing unique rural luxury, the Kichaka Luxury Game Lodge is an unusual holiday destination in the heart of the South African wilderness. The main lodge and the other buildings at Kichaka are constructed with natural stone, blending in with the surrounding environment. The décor is themed with animal and rural African life, with earth-toned colour schemes and natural materials, creating an authentic and cosy environment. The lodge overlooks a waterhole, which is popular with hippo, giraffe, elephant and other game, and the resort provides plenty of decks and a swimming pool from which to watch these beautiful animals from.
- The accommodation at Kichaka Luxury Game Lodge is made up of only 10 exclusive and private suites. Each of the units provides a thatched roof and stone walls, spectacular views, a viewing deck, a private plunge pool and is connected to the main lodge via a path that meanders through the bush.
- The Kichaka Lodge is situated in the countryside of the Eastern Cape Province, surrounded by 7,500 hectares of game reserve. Within short driving distance you can enjoy activities like golf, fishing, a spa, hiking and horse riding. The Port Elizabeth airport is an hour's drive from the Kichaka Game Reserve.
Directions to the Kickaka Game Lodge
From Port Elizabeth Airport , 110 kilometers
- Leave the airport turn left at the traffic circle
- Continue over the railway line and turn right at the traffic lights (Heugh Rd)
- Continue straight to the last traffic lights at the bottom of the hill
- Turn left and follow the N2 towards Grahamstown for +- 100 km
- Turn left at the Kichaka sign
- Continue 3,5 km on the gravel road
- You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left
- Proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka Staff
From Grahamstown, 35 kilometers
- Follow the N2 from Grahamstown towards Port Elizabeth for 30km
- Turn right at the Kichaka sign.
- Continue 3,5km on the gravel road
- You will arrive at the Kichaka Lodge gate on your left
- Proceed up the road to the reception area where you will be met by Kichaka Staff

The Kichaka Game Lodge in South Africa's Eastern Cape is beautifully located just a one hours drive from the Port Elizabeth airport in the Kichaka Private Game Reserve which is home to the Big 5 and is malaria free.
The main lodge at Kichaka is constructed in stone and thatch, which blends seamlessly with the magnificent landscape of the Eastern Cape. The main lodge overlooks a large water hole which is frequented by hippo, giraffe, elephant and countless other game.
The lounge and dining areas at the Kichaka Lodge have been built to provide a beautiful view over the untamed bush. Large terraces stretch over the waterhole and provide a magnificent viewing deck for guests. The terrace also extends into a small island creating an enchanting outdoor dining area.
Guests are invited to relax and enjoy a swim with the hippos in the lodge's rim-flow pool adjacent to the waterhole or to simply enjoy the sun, cocktails and glorious views on the large pool terrace.
The Kichaka Lodge also provides conference facilities. The office area provides PC's, internet access, fax and scanner facilities to all guests. Above the lounge one can find a library, which can be used, as a meeting room overlooking the waterhole.
The immediate camp area is secured by discreet electric fencing to ensure safety of guests and to deter elephants from destroying the trees. Due to this protection, guests staying at the Kichaka Lodge have the opportunity to walk freely around the camp and enjoy the local flora and birdlife.
Accommodation at the Kichaka Lodge
Each of the 10 exclusive suites at the Kichaka Lodge have been built to provide every amenity, attention to detail ensures comfort and luxury.
Each unique suite is named after the indigenous bush. They are built of stone and thatch. Situated in secluded settings the suites provide complete privacy and spaciousness. The suites are connected to the main lodge by walkways, which wind through the bush.
Special care has been taken to provide spectacular views from the lounge, bedroom and bathroom of each suite at the Kichaka Lodge. Each 70m˛ suite features a lounge area with large glass sliding doors on two sides which open wide, making these rooms part of the surrounding bush. Each climate controlled suite boast a large viewing deck and private heated plunge pool. Available amenities include the fully-stocked bar fridge, telephone and free internet access and 24 hour room service. State of the art air-conditioning and underfloor heating provide year round comfort and the bathrooms have both shower and bath facilities.

The Kichaka Lodge offers 5 star cuisine and impeccable personal service. The lodge provides the choice of private dining in the suite, enjoying meals in the main lodge dining room, outdoor dining at one of the specially designed outdoor dining areas or in the library.
For the wine connoisseur the Kichaka Lodge offers a large wine cellar with a range of premier wines. The selection of fine wines available here is extensive and well rounded.
Game Drives
Experienced game rangers ensure exceptional game sightings during the safari on the 7,500 hectare game reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. Excellent viewings of lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo, as well as cheetah, hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope are enjoyed on game drives across the open plains of the reserve.
The night game drives at Kichaka provide an excellent opportunity to star gaze in wonder at the Southern Hemisphere's Milky Way and identify Orion's Belt, The Southern Cross and Scorpio with the guidance of the experienced rangers. Guests can arrange a Cosmic Safari and view the wonders of space with the high powered telescope. On night drives, the elusive aardvark, aardwolf and other nocturnal game are often seen.
Large herds of plains game, including eland, gemsbok, springbok, wildebeest and zebra among others, are enjoyed on the Kichaka Game reserve, which boasts diverse vegetation including 5 biomes: savanna grassland, valley bushveld, fynbos, riverine forest and acacia woodland.
Hippos regularly reside in the waterhole at the Kichaka Lodge and sightings can be enjoyed from the comfort of the viewing deck.
