Sibuya Game Reserve

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

The vast Sibuya Game reserve in the Eastern Cape is home to a more traversable estuary than any other nature reserve in Southern Africa. Therefore, it is an excellent birding destination with nearly 403 distinct species.

Sibuya wildlife ranges from elephants to otters including the Big Five being a lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. The reserve offers accommodation in two luxury tented lodges which are called the Forest & River Camp.

The reception area is in the holiday village of Kenton-on-Sea in the, which lies about 142 km away from Port Elizabeth and East London. The unforgettable safari experience starts with a half-hour boat transfer up the Kariega estuary to the River Camp or Forest Camp.

As guests leaving the beach, turtles, dolphins and whales might be seen near the river mouth. Both camps are located in the riverine forest and have been constructed in an environmentally conscious manner.

Shibuya River Camp features four tents in total. This exclusive accommodation is ideal for families with children, or for sole-use specialist groups. The luxury tents measure 25 square meters are adjoined by an en-suite bathroom and accommodate two adults sharing with king or twin beds. The private decks of each luxury tent offer views of the scenic river or forest. Cot or camp beds are available for children sharing with adults.

Sibuya Forest Camp is beautifully located on the banks of the Kariega River, tucked away into the lush vegetation, the Forest Camp offers a unique and beautiful accommodation experience. The tents are built on raised wooden decks and feature long wooden walkways through the pristine thicket. The Forest Camp offers luxury tented accommodation with each tent measuring 40 square meters.

A large en-suite bathroom adjoins These luxury tents, accommodating two adults sharing with king or twin beds under an all-weather roof. The wide decks at the Forest Camp offer lovely views of the river or forest. Cot or camp beds are available for children sharing with adults.
