The Umzolozolo Safari Lodge is in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands of South Africa. This game lodge is easily accessible by road; the driving time takes about 3.5 hours from Johannesburg, 2.5 hours from Durban and 40 minutes from the Drakensberg. This malaria-free region offers an exciting safari experience with the opportunity to view Africa's Big Five as well as cheetah.
The Game Drives are operated by the most experienced trackers as well as game rangers which accompany guests in their open land rovers while tracking the "Big Five" and surrounding wildlife.
The primary focus of the Lodge is unique and personally appropriate service. The lodge can accommodate small groups, and the exclusive facilities combine the thrill of the African bush with all of the comforts of a 5* Hotel.
The Lodge features five luxurious suites with panoramic views. Each suite is a freestanding unit, constructed with local materials and thatch to blend seamlessly into the beautiful surrounding environment.
The air-conditioned suites are spacious and secluded with private viewing decks where guests can relax and observe the herds of zebra, wildebeest, and impala as they graze below.
The suites have been designed to allow maximum game viewing from every room with large picture windows looking out onto the valley. In addition to a private bathroom, each suite features an outdoor shower so that even while showering, guests can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the Nambiti Private Game Reserve.

The lodge's chef creates culinary masterpieces four times daily at the Lodge, which include; home-made muffins, a delicious full English breakfast, and buffet-style lunch awaits guests. African Tradition: Boma
It is an African tradition to congregate around a fire in the evenings to take in the sounds of the untamed bush and to observe the shimmering stars as the night closes in. The enclosed boma where a log fire makes for an excellent gathering place to take in the unique sounds and smells of Africa while in the distance, the roar of a lion calling his pride can be heard. Unforgettable dinners are served in this boma under the star-studded skies is a most natural and wild setting.

Two game drives are available every day, one early in the morning and one in the late afternoon / early evening. These thrilling safaris during which guests may expect fantastic wildlife encounters happen in the open 4×4 game vehicles.

As an alternative to game drives, guest may enjoy a relaxing afternoon fishing in the Sundays River or one of the well-stocked dams in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Fishing is on a catch and release basis.

Directions from Durban to the Umzolozolo Safari Lodge (2 and a half hours drive:
1. Head towards Johannesburg on the main N3 Toll Road, takes the Colenso / Bergville off Ramp. (About 8km after the Shell Ultra City/Petrol Station)
2. At the top of the off ramp, turn right over the freeway and travel for 20km on the R103 to Colenso.
3. 1km after the Colenso turnoff, turn right to Ezakheni (The turnoff is opposite the Farm Stall, which is on your left-hand side).
4. Travel for 11km, you will cross over a railway bridge and come to a stop street, turn left at the stop street. (You will be passing the Ezakheni Industrial Area on your right-hand side.)
5. Travel for 10 km till you come to a T-Junction. At the T Junction, turn right towards Ezakheni and continue for 14 km.
(Look out for the Brown Nambiti Sign, as well as a sign D46)
6. Turn left onto the D46 (dirt road) to Elandslaagte.
7. Travel for 7km until you reach the thatched gate house on your right-hand side.
You will be welcomed by the guard, who will direct you to the secure parking area, where your ranger will be waiting to transport you to Umzolozolo Private Safari Lodge.
On site parking facilities are provided for guests.
