Madikwe is managed by the North West Parks and Tourism Board, which was formerly the Bophuthatswana National Parks, a conservation organisation that is world-renowned for its pioneering approach to people-based wildlife conservation, which it has practised since the late 1970s.

Directions to the Motswiri Safari Lodge, Madikwe Game Reserve, from Johannesburg:
 •  From Johannesburg head north on the N1
    towards the N4 Toll road.
 •  Take the N4 Toll road north west towards      Rustenburg, Swartruggens, Groot Marico and
    Zeerust.
 •  Once in Zeerust turn right at the second stop
    street into President Street. There is a signpost
    on the left that says "Madikwe Game
    Reserve/Gaborone" and a First National Bank on
    the corner to the right.
 •  Follow the R49 towards the reserve for
    approximately 97km.
 •  The first entrance to the reserve is Abjaterskop
    Gate.
 •  The second gate to the reserve is the
    Wonderboom Gate exactly 7km from the
    first gate.

The Motswiri Private Safari Lodge is situated in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa.

This exclusive five star lodge offers a maximum of 10 guests a bush experience not to be forgotten. Due to its ideal location, the Motswiri Safari Lodge offers some of the best views in the Madikwe Game Reserve as well as the feeling of tranquillity provided by the mature trees, mostly leadwoods, under which the main building and 5 luxury bush villas nestle.

The exquisitely appointed main lodge at Motswiri overlooks a waterhole, which is frequented by elephant families and other big game. Motswiri offers the option of either individual bookings or exclusive use of the lodge. The lodge is ideal for corporate, family/friend groups of up to 10 who do not wish to share the facilities with outsiders.

The Motswiri Safari Lodge comprises a Main, which features indoor and outdoor lounges, a dining-room, an open air boma, and wrap around viewing deck with a rim-flow swimming pool. Five luxury double bedrooms are available around the main lodge. The 3 bedroom family suite is an exclusive unit for families with young children.

All Motswiri bush lodge villas provide air-conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en suite bathrooms, beautifully decorated bathrooms, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks.

    within the malaria free Madikwe game reserve
    which can easily be reached by road transfer from
    Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sun City or by chartered
    plane which operates on a regular basis.
 •  The Motswiri Safari Lodge provides five luxury villas,
    which are complete with air-conditioning, ceiling fans,
    fireplace, en suite bathrooms, outdoor rock showers
    and private decks.
 •  The magnificent main lodge building features indoor
    and outdoor lounges, a dining room, a bar, a rim flow
    swimming pool on the wrap around deck overlooking
    the waterhole.
 •  Outside dinners in the boma around a blazing camp
    fire can be enjoyed by the guests staying at this five
    star Safari Lodge.
 •  Knowledgeable and professional game rangers
    provide guests in open game drive vehicles with
    memorable encounters of Africa's untamed wildlife.
 •  Daily return air shuttle services from Johannesburg
    with Madikwe Air Charters are provided.
 •  By road the Motswiri Safari Lodge is a 3½ hour drive
    from Johannesburg.

The 75 000-hectare Madikwe Game Reserve, which is home to the Big Five, is located in the North West Province of South Africa. Prior to its establishment in 1991, most of the land of this game reserve consisted of cattle farms. Since 1991, the park has undergone an intensive phase of development, and this included an extensive restocking programme with game species that historically occurred in the region.
