Battlefields
The war of the Zulu Kings and the British Empire took place in the hills surrounding the Nambiti Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. If guests wish to explore the battlefields for a day a tour with a professional guide can be booked or guests can self-drive with a picnic lunch.
The Drakensberg Mountain Range
The Drakensberg is one of South Africa's most beautiful attractions and visitors to this region of South Africa may want to explore a little of what it has to offer. The Nambiti Plains Game Lodge is beautifully situated amongst the unique fauna and flora of the spectacular Nambiti Game Reserve. This game reserve is a private Big Five bush retreat and game conservancy located on 20,000 acres of malaria-free bushveld in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The Nambiti Plains Private Game Lodge is just 3½ hours from Johannesburg and 2½ hours from Durban.

Guests staying at the Nambiti Plains Lodge have the unique opportunity to watch the sun set over the horizon whilst capturing the moment of a pride of lions stalking their prey or watching a rhino strolling to the water hole for an afternoon drink. The Nambiti Plains Lodge lies nestled within the beauty of a picturesque landscape that only Africa can portray offering 5 star luxury accommodation for the executive adventurer. Each suite at the Nambiti Lodge is designed with the utmost care and detail to impress and surpass the expectations of even the most discerning guest. The guest rooms at Nambiti are spacious, feature underfloor heating and are completely secluded. With 180 degree panoramic views from the bath, outdoor "bush shower", and private wrap around deck, guests can immerse themselves in the pure luxury.
The Nambiti Lodge offers a family suite, which consists of two separate suites with a common entrance. The family suite offer guests beautiful views as well as a bath on the deck.
The main lodge is constructed in and amongst the indigenous forest, perched on the waterhole edge. Guests may relax with a cocktail on the deck or at the Nambiti Plains Bar or take a dip in the swimming pool and watch as the animals quietly drink and bath in the waterhole. In the evenings guests can look forward to 5 star dinners in the boma around the African fire.

Dining is a culinary journey at the Nambiti Plains Lodge, a mixture of local South African flavours. Only the freshest ingredients are used and producing as much as possible at the lodge is the chef's goal, whether it be freshly made compotes with which to flavour the breakfast yoghurt; breads to tempt guests at lunch; delicious fruit salsas to accompany the main course at dinner and a whole host of other delectable, freshly made items. The Nambiti Lodge offers a full buffet breakfast. Lunch can be enjoyed either at the main area decks or privately on the room veranda. Dinner is served in the dining area, in the cosy boma or in the bush for a truly magical experience weather depending. Management can arrange private picnic lunches. Vegetarians and any other dietary requirements will be cared for as far as possible.
The Nambiti Conservancy
The Nambiti Conservancy is a private Big Five bush retreat and game conservancy set on 20,000 acres of malaria-free bushveld in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. This conservancy offers an incredible biodiversity including savannah, grasslands, thornveld and tall acacia trees. The Sundays River flows through the Nambiti game reserve and features two 40 meter waterfalls with magnificent ravine bush, and being home to several rare bird species.
Bush Walks in the Nambiti Conservancy
Guests staying at the Nambiti Lodge are guided through the bush by the Lodge's ranger. This walk allows guests a better chance to enjoy the small creatures, which play such a vital role in the bushveld ecosystem. Visitors can learn more about the flora and fauna of the region, the rangers will enthrall guests with their explanations of the traditional medicinal uses of bushes and trees.
