Health and Beauty Spa at the Shibula Game Lodge

Directions to the Welgevonden Main Gate for the Shibula Game Lodge
• Take the N1 from Pretoria to Polokwane
(Pietersburg)
• There are three tollgates to take into
consideration:
• The first, Pumulanie Tollgate,
• the second, the Carousel Tollgate,
• the third, Kranskop Tollgate.
• At the third tollgate (Kranskop Plaza)
use the left gate and proceed on the R33 to
Modimolle (Nylstroom)
• Go straight through Modimolle (Nylstroom)
towards Vaalwater. This is about 60 km.
Guests are advised to phone the lodge when
passing through Nylstroom.
• Pass straight through Vaalwater. Do not turn
off anywhere.
• Please DO NOT take the right turn (R33)
• to Lephalale (Ellisras) at the Spar Supermarket /
Total Garage, keep straight on the Thabazimbi
road.
• Please DO NOT take the Bakkerspas
(Welgevonden South Gate) turn off - Keep going
straight on the Thabazimbi road.
• Please DO NOT take the Welgevonden East Gate
turn off - Keep on going on the Thabazimbi road.
• Welgevonden Main Gate will be on your left
hand side coming from Vaalwater. The
Welgevonden Main Gate is +- 25km,
15 min from Vaalwater.
Look out for the Tourist Information board on
your left hand side informing you about the
Welgevonden Main Gate.
• The Welgevonden Main gate sign is on your left.
• Total km from Pretoria is approximately 210 km
A Shibula Ranger will be waiting for you.
It is between a 2 - 3 hours drive from
Johannesburg.
Children at Shibula
• Children under the age of 10 years will only be
allowed at the Shibula Game Lodge by prior
arrangement and taking existing reservations
into consideration.
• Management reserves the right to make
alternative arrangements during their stay on
game drives and for dinner.

Welgevonden Private Game Reserve in the heart
of the Waterberg Biosphere. The lodge accommodates

river, under the watchful eye of a ranger, or simply

Pre-breakfast or mid morning game drives or
bush-walks with qualified rangers and trackers for
the adventurous, light lunch and teas with
mouth-watering surprises, evening game drives
with sundowners, and cosy, boma dinners, all

Accommodation
The décor in the lodge has been acclaimed by all as being exceptional and unique. As
far as the décor is concerned, Shibula is a real “lady
in the bush”. Lace and crystal subtly blend with authentic African culture.
The interior of Shibula gives one a classis ethnic feel.
Each decorating piece is handpicked and the special
attention to detail has given Shibula its unique classic
ethnic feel. Each chalet is individually furnished in a
different style and each room has a décor style,
which reflects the name of the unit.
The Shibula Royal Suite main features are a private
lounge with fireplace, two en-suite bedrooms,
bathroom which include separate toilet, 2 basins,
shower and a Victorian bath, an outside shower, as
well as a private patio with a plunge pool.
The Presidential Suite at Shibula is characterised by
its private lounge with fireplace, an en-suite bedroom
with spa bath in its bedroom complemented with a
cozy fireplace, the bathroom features a separate
toilet, 2 basins, a shower and a Victorian bath as
well as an outside shower.
Activities / Facilities
The superbly decorated main lodge boasts a library - well stocked with information
on wildlife, birds and plants - and an elegant lounge and dining area,
complete with a baby grand piano. A sprawling deck
with magnificent views leads one to a communal
swimming pool, perfect for sundowners as the sun
bows to the majestic moon. The well-being of guests
is paramount at Shibula. The well-stocked, specially
designed wine cellar complements the healthy,
distinctly African-inspired cuisine and discreet,
personalised service allows guests to enjoy an
individually tailored balance of superb safari
experiences and relaxing spa activities.

numerous antelope and more than 270 bird species.

Day of Arrival:
• 13h00 - Check in at the main gate of the
Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, enjoy welcome
drinks upon arrival for refreshment
• 13h15 - Depart to the Shibula Game Lodge which is
a 45 minute drive away from the main gate
• 14h00 - Arrive at the Shibula Game Lodge, unpack
and settle into your private Chalet
• 15h00 - Enjoy high tea at the Shibula's Main Lodge
• 15h45 - Depart on the exciting evening game drive,
stop en-route for snacks and a sundowner drink in
the untamed African wilderness of the Big 5
Welgevonden Game Reserve
• 19h45 - Return from evening game drive back to the
Shibula Game Lodge
• 20h00 - Enjoy dinner in either the boma or the main
restaurant at Shibula
The Next morning:
• 05h30 - Wake up call for the early morning game
drive
• 06h00 - Enjoy coffee and rusks in the Main Lodge
at Shibula
• 06h15 - Depart on early morning game drive, stop
en-route for snacks
• 09h45 - Return from morning game drive back to
the Lodge
• 10h00 - Full English breakfast is served on the deck
• 11h30 - Time at leisure to enjoy the health and
beauty spa and the swimming pool
