Bill Harrop's 'Original' Balloon Safaris offers travelers the opportunity to view the magnificent panoramas of South Africa and to enjoy this rare and special privilege of observing the flora and fauna from the slowly drifting vantage of an hot air balloon. The Entabeni Safari Conservancy provides for an unforgettable bush getaway combined with a most memorable Game Viewing Hot Air Balloon Safari in the early morning.
The Entabeni Private Game Reserve
The Entabeni Safari Conservancy is called "The Place of the Mountain" and is situated in the World Heritage "Waterberg Biosphere" in South Africa's Limpopo Province.
Enjoy a fun filled stay at the Entabeni Private Game Reserve when booking a Lodge & Hot Air Balloon Package which is inclusive of accommodation, 3 meals, a game drive and a Hot Air Balloon Safari game spotting flight over the Entabeni Game Reserve.
The Entabeni Private Game Reserve offers a choice of different lodges and camps. The 5 star Earthsong Luxury Lodge or the 4 star Wildside Camp both of which are on the lower escarpment of the reserve and most convenient to the hot air balloon safari takeoff area. The other Lodges are the 5 star Kingfisher Lodge or the 4 star lodges, Lakeside, Eagles Nest and Ravineside on the upper escarpment.
Bill Harrop's 'Original' Balloon Safaris operate game viewing flights which provide guests with a magnificent aerial view of the unique 22 000 ha, malaria free, Big Five Entabeni Private Game Reserve, situated in the Limpopo Province, a mere 3 hours drive from Johannesburg.
Entabeni Private Game Reserve boasts five different but inter-connected eco-systems. The upper escarpment offers majestic craggy rock formations and wide open grass plains. This is separated from the lower plateau by 600 metre high cliffs. The lower escarpment is about three degrees warmer and comprises sandy wet-lands.
As well as the unique thrill of Balloon Safaris over this area Entabeni Private Game Reserve offers other great diversions such as scenic helicopter flights, horseback safaris, stargazing in the observatory, relaxation and rejuvenation at the wellness centre, sunset lake cruises and a variety of game viewing activities by day and at night, far in excess of the ubiquitous sightings of "just the "Big 5"
Hot Air Balloon Safari at the Entabeni Private Game Reserve
The Balloon Crew, consisting of the pilot and 3 crew, will arrive at the Lodge the evening prior to the flight, meet the passengers, answer questions and brief them, for the following morning's balloon safari.
On the morning of the flight, the Balloon Crew will set off just before sunrise to establish the optimum launch site. The passengers will follow half an hour later with their Ranger who will have been advised of the chosen
launch site by radio.
The Hot Air Balloon flight will last about forty five minutes, starting in the Entabeni game reserve to fly over the game, but may land outside the reserve, depending on the flight direction and meteorological conditions.
Traditionally, champagne will be served either "in flight" or on landing, and "Certificates for Bravery" will be awarded with due ceremony.
After landing the passengers will re-join their ranger for a game drive and breakfast in the bush or at the Lodge.

The Hot air balloon Flights are conducted at the sole discretion of the pilot with regard to safety.
If the tour is cancelled by the passenger, the deposit is forfeited. If the flight is cancelled because of bad weather, the flight is either re-booked or the deposit returned.
Should any element of the package be postponed or cancelled, this will not affect the commitment of any party in the agreement to the supplying and charging for, or receiving and paying for, the other elements of the package on the original dates unless otherwise agreed in writing.
A minimum of 4 guests is required to justify a Flight Departure but these could be from 4 individual sources.
Each balloon can be programmed to make one flight per day, at sunrise. If the flight is cancelled by us, for safety reasons, we will endeavor to fly in the late afternoon if conditions permit.
As there is less chance of flying in the late afternoon / early evening due to instability in the air at that time, it is not recommended to pre-programme for evening flights when booking.
We can endeavor to "consolidate" flights, if requested, where there are less than 4 guests requesting to fly, but such flights can only be confirmed "Subject To Others" and the relevant deposit must be pre-paid or acceptably guaranteed.
Full refunds will be made for flights cancelled by ourselves for safety reasons, and refunds for flights shorter than forty five minutes will be calculated according to our published scale.
