The beautiful White Elephant Lodge is located in the Pongola Game Reserve, overlooking the western escarpment of the Lebombo Mountains, Lake Jozini and the endless savannah woodland of Northern Zululand in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province.
This game lodge is within close proximity to several renowned Zululand game and nature reserves, such as the Mkze Game Reserve, the Ndumo Game Reserve, the Tembe Elephant Reserve, the the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park.
The Pongola Game Reserve with Lake Jozini as main feature is South Africa's sole public tigerfish water. This wilderness is home to large herds of impala, elephant, buffalo, blue wildebeest and zebra, and abundant bird life. The Pongola Game Reserve therefore compares favourably with Africa's well-known fishing Mecca, Lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe.
The Lake Jozini, which is also known as the Pongolapoort Dam, covers a total surface area of 16 000 hectares and is fed by the Pongola River with a catchment area of over one thousand square kilometres. The length of the lake exceeds 30km, the northern corner cutting into Swaziland. On the eastern side the Lake Jozini nestles against the spectacular Lebombo mountain range.
From the novice fisherman to the expert anglers fishing with a fly, Lake Jozini provides guests the ideal location for tiger fishing, while enjoying the pristine wilderness setting of this magnificent region.

The Elephant Game Lodge features two different accommodation types from which the guests can choose from: the luxurious safari style tents as well as the bush camp.
The Safari Lodge: luxurious tented safari Lodge
The Safari Lodge at the White Elephant Game Lodge was originally built in the 1920's. This 16-bedded lodge reflects the history and romance of the "colonial era".
Eight luxurious safari-style tents, each of which is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor canvas shower, a private veranda as well as a personal bar.
The Bush Camp
The Bush Camp at the White Elephant Lodge in KwaZulu-Natal offers affordable accommodation in the Pongola Game Reserve without having to compromise comfort or luxury.
- Chalet 1: Honeymoon suite, en-suite shower with outdoor private ball 'n claw bath.
- Chalet 2, 3, 4: Twin beds, en-suite shower.
- Chalet 5, 6: Twin beds, en-suite shower and bath, an extra bed for a child or a camping cost can be placed in these rooms.
- Chalet 7: Family unit, en-suite shower, twin beds in main room, 2 X single beds in children's adjoining room and camping cot on request
