A remarkable Karoo retreat is making its mark on the international luxury stage.

Released in July 2026, Robb Report\u2019s prestigious annual ranking goes well beyond celebrating the newest hotel openings. The selection is shaped by a panel of 24 Travel Masters \u2013 highly respected luxury travel advisors whose expertise lies in creating extraordinary journeys for some of the world\u2019s most discerning travellers.

Kuganha now finds itself in impressive company, sharing the list with internationally acclaimed properties such as Amanoi, Claridge\u2019s London, Le Bristol Paris, Park Hyatt Tokyo and Singita Kwitonda in Rwanda. Among just 50 hotels selected globally, Kuganha brings a uniquely South African interpretation of luxury, combining the raw beauty of the Karoo with an innovative approach to wellness and safari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recognition is particularly significant given Kuganha\u2019s origins. This independently developed 10-suite retreat in the Cape Tankwa Karoo has earned a place alongside some of the world\u2019s most established luxury hospitality brands, demonstrating the growing influence of Africa in the global market for immersive, experience-driven travel.

Kuganha is also helping to redefine the concept of the wellness safari. Located within a 10,000-hectare rewilded Big Five conservancy, and less than two and a half hours from Cape Town, the property brings together wildlife, conservation, exceptional hospitality and deeply personal wellness experiences.

Each of the 10 Private Restoration Suites offers at least 320 square metres of space, ranking them among the largest one-bedroom tented safari suites in Africa.
