With no fences between the Kruger National Park and the Timbavati Nature Reserve, Timbavati is home to the "Big Five", namely Elephants, Rhinos, Buffaloes, Leopards and Lions. With the many different bird species in this bushveld area, it is a bird watchers paradise. Travellers set off on adventurous game drives through the untamed African bushveld and enjoy close encounters with the varied wildlife.
We stayed at the Makanyi Game Lodge. It was wonderful! Also the game drives in Timbavati were great. We went on early morning game drives and late afternoon game drives. We saw a lot of animals, with many close encounters. Bill and Sue ( New York, USA)
First we were not sure if we should stay in Timbavati as it was our first time to South Africa and we wanted to have the best game viewing experience possible. We decided to book a lodge in Timbavati and were so happy we decided for this game reserve. We could not have been any luckier with the game viewing! In our 4 nights, we saw all the Big Five including the Leopard. This made us very happy!
