AMAZULU GAME RESERVE /
KWAZULU NATAL

AmaKhosi, translated from Zulu means "The Place of the Kings", offers attentive service and absolute luxury in the beautiful surroundings of Zululand that bear testimony with the renowned Mkuze River in Kwazulu Natal. Boasting 12 000 hectares, the Amazulu Private Game Reserve is made up of a varied ecosystem. The diversity found in this game rich Game Reserve includes savannah, mountains and wetlands which makes it the ideal home to “Africa’s Big Five" as well as giraffe, warthog and hyena beside the over 15 different antelope species, hippopotamus and crocodile. The wetland surroundings offer no less than 400 bird species; the Amakhosi Game Lodge in KwaZulu Natal is a place of paradise and comfort.

The people at the Amakhosi Game Lodge are as much part of the experience as the exquisite surroundings. The local Zulu community plays an important part for Amakhosi and its staff members as it has provided the inspiration behind the design and decor of this luxurious game lodge. In keeping with the tradition, the staff members at the Amakhosi Game Lodge, who are mostly Zulu, have helped build a traditional Zulu Kraal as part of the lodge and, in keeping with the African style, offer Zulu dancers as entertainment to guests.

At the heart of the Amakhosi Game Lodge is the most luxurious blend of river frontage. Riverbanks are home to the main lodge with the magnificent regal River Suites offering special views of the flowing Mkuze River. Each suite at the Amakhosi Game Lodge boasts separate air-conditioned bedroom and lounge with fully stocked mini bar and tea/coffee facilities. Guests can slip into an African dreamland with high thatched ceilings and glass walls reaching for the open African sky. The en-suite bathroom with a unique bath made for two is decorated with an array of candles and bath salts allowing decadence to take on a whole new meaning and bringing tranquility and serenity to your beautiful suite.

Game Viewing at the Amazulu Private Game Reserve
The animals are doing very well at the Amazulu Private Game Reserve despite the dryness. In fact now is a great time to view them all, especially around some of the many beautiful dams and waterholes. It is marvelous how successful the cheetahs are. The elephant herds have joined for the time being and have provided guests with hours of fun and entertainment as they wade through the bush satisfying their hunger and thirst. There is no better way to enjoy an African sunset than watching a herd of elephants enjoying their evening bath at one of the dams.

Early morning and late afternoon guided walks and game drives lead guests staying at the Amakhosi Game Lodge into the African bush to observe the animals and their fascinating behavior. The abundance of flora and fauna always reveal something interesting, both on the ground and in the air. Qualified game rangers introduce the unique role each animal plays on the massive stage within the African Kingdom. For those guests who prefer to relax at the Lodge, there is a library, swimming pool, game viewing deck and an outdoor lounge overlooking the flowing Mkuze River.
