Nature, History, and Garden Magic

Magoebaskloof is a spectacular gorge—‘kloof’ in Afrikaans—famous for its misty valleys, high rainfall, and dense Afromontane forests. The area is dotted with waterfalls, streams, and dams, with scenic views of eucalyptus, pine, and tea plantations, alongside avocado, kiwi, and berry farms.

The camp is located just outside Haenertsburg at the renowned Cheerio Gardens Wedding Venue. Originally cultivated in 1946 by botanist Sheila “Box” Thompson, these gardens are now one of the country’s most beautiful floral destinations. In spring, the gardens erupt in color with azaleas, hydrangeas, foxgloves, camellias, and cherry blossoms—a dream for flower lovers and photographers alike.

The gardens and surrounding forests provide prime habitat for an impressive variety of bird species.
