The Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge is situated in a secluded valley between two red dunes and hidden amongst ancient camelthorn trees in the Kalahari Game Reserve in Namibia. The Camelthorn Lodge consists of a thatched main building, dining area and a boma overlooking a natural stone pool, with each of the 11 double chalets offering air conditioning and private en-suite facilities.
The Camelthorn private game reserve is a Twenty Five thousand acres in the south-western region of the Kalahari, along with the upper reaches of the Auob river. The expanse of the Intu Afrika Kalahari reserve is characterised by ancient parallel red dunes sparsely covered by different vegetation.
Guests staying at the Lodge, are given a chance to learn about the predator re-introduction program or take a walk around the Kalahari with a bushman tracker. Here they will learn and study their desert survival secrets and hear about what happened to the San people.
The setting of the Lodge is most certainly African Bushman, with artefacts and décor of one of the oldest cultures in the world. Guests can explore the Kalahari in open 4x4 vehicles, take guided walks with Bushman trackers and trained guides, relax around the pool or in the elegant lounge overlooking the waterhole.
