The luxurious Dawson's Game and Trout Lodge are set in a spectacular, natural setting near Badplaas. This Lodge features a total of eight well-appointed rooms to which sixteen guests can be accommodated and offered; perfect tranquillity, delicious cuisine, and exciting activities await. This region of South Africa is an ideal destination for outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing as well as bird watching. The lodge is suitable for a weekend getaway in the countryside and offers a perfect stopover place for the traveller coming from Johannesburg on the way to the Kruger National Park or the other way around.

Set between Machadadorp and Barberton at the end of a scenic, secluded valley, the Wildlife Reserve is a beautiful place of paradise occupying 5500 acres where trout dams and herds of the game can be found. Guests enjoy sundowners while admiring herds of Zebra, Eland, Impala, Wildebeest, Springbok and Impala.

The Nelshoogte Pass is located in proximity to the lodge winding its way through some of oldest rock formations in the world. It used to be the gateway to the Barberton gold rush. Thanks to the gold rush, the town of Barberton was the site of South Africa's first stock exchange.

This Dawson's country lodge near Badplaas provides eight rooms all of which are decorated in an African colonial theme creating a comfortable and stylish place. Every hotel room offers an en-suite bathroom with a big bathtub, a spacious shower as well as heated towel rails. The rooms fireplaces provide warmth and cosiness during the cooler months of the year.


The delicious meals are of very high quality, and the chef takes great pride in his excellent work. The dining room at the lodge reflects an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. Guests have the choice of enjoying breakfast and lunch in the privacy of their hotel rooms or the dining room.

Romantic picnic baskets for lunch can be booked on request whereby guests may enjoy it anywhere within the wildlife reserve. An unforgettable and mouthwatering dinner is served in the outdoor boma around an open log fire, African style.

Dawsons is a very unique and beautiful destination, all of the facilities at the hotel are of the highest standard.

I really enjoyed the time i had to relax and contemplate the qualities of life, my room was rich in colonial African ambiance and I had a great dinner.
