Duma Tau Camp

★ ★ ★ ★

The Duma Tau Camp Chobe is located within the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve bordering the Chobe National Park in Botswana, Southern Africa.

The name DumaTau of this luxurious safari camp in Botswana can be translated at the 'roar of the lion'. Its close proximity to the source of the Savute Channel on Osprey Lagoon makes it a great wildlife viewing area.

This is one of the many lagoons which are located within the Linyanti Swamp system while being ideally set between two elephant walkways.

This camp features ten Luxury Tents which are spacious and spread out under a canvas roof making a unique African safari setting. The rooms offer sliding doors and windows which offer wide-angled views of the riverfront.

DumaTau Camp is raised off the ground to take advantage of the fantastic river views. Guests enjoy delicious meals on the expansive dining deck. The welcoming lounge area, as well as the outdoor swimming pool, overlook the lagoon. Being run on solar energy, DumaTau has a light carbon footprint making it a popular eco-lodge.

Guests experience some of the best wildlife viewings in northern Botswana during their stay at the magnificent Duma Tau Camp. This area is well known for its high elephant concentration as they gather along the lagoons and waterways during the dry winter months.

General wildlife which is encountered here includes red lechwe, Burchell's zebra, buffalo, giraffe as well as and warthog. Predator sightings of leopard, lion, cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyena are also possible here.

During the morning and afternoon safari drives, the night safari drives and the exciting walking safaris, guests explore the rich wildlife including predators and elephants which are often the highlight.

Bird watching is a real treat with the Savute Channel being famous for its high concentration of raptors and eagles. This region of Botswana is internationally recognised as an IBA (Important Bird Area).

Guests have the unique opportunity to explore the Linyanti River by barge or boat. The barge is ideal for sundowners and picnics in search of elusive birds which are prevalent in the channels. This activity offered at the camp is water-level dependent.

The camp features a hide where guests may relax and take in the active birdlife. The raised platform at the Zibalianja Lagoon offers an ideal spot from which to admire and photograph animals and birds. This same deck is also used for an authentic and unique way to sleep out under the star-studded African sky.
