The Elsa’s Kopje is set on the Mughwango Hill overlooking the vast plains of Meru National Park in Kenya, East Africa. Beautiful and romantic, Elsa's Kopje is located above the site of George Adamson’s original camp where orphan lions were raised and released. Elsa’s Kopje, which nestles in the heart of the park, provides scenic views of Mount Kenya to the east.
The cottages are built around the rocks featuring a main bedroom, an en suite bathroom (some have outdoor baths) as well as a private deck. Two of the cottages can accommodate one extra bed in order to have a child under the age of 16 share the room The elegant safari style is reflected in the lodges Cottages, Honeymoon Cottages and Family Cottages.
The Family Cottage is a two bedroom cottage offering en-suite double and twin rooms with a beautiful living room, a spacious private deck as well as an outside bath by the master bedroom.
Two of the three Honeymoon Suites provide romantic outside baths with one of the suites offering three levels complete with a private sitting room, a main bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and a small private deck.
The Elsa’s Kopje Safari Lodge in Kenya is known for its delicious cuisine. With fresh pastas and salads for lunch, meals are heavenly here combining North Italian recipes with more unusual dishes such as crispy Tempura Vegetables, Aubergine, Feta and Tomato Stacks with Parmesan ‘Snaps’ and Danish Layer Cake. With its own garden, salads and herbs are freshly used complementing homemade bread which is freshly baked in the camp’s traditional outdoor pizza oven.
Guests dine on their own individual tables with dinners almost always being served outside, with candlelit tables laid out under the stars. Special diets including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc are catered for and can be requested before arrival.
Guests experience unforgettable safaris through the rugged and remote Meru National Park. A birders paradise, this national park in Kenya is home to over 400 species, as well as wonderful botanical treasures which include the giant baobab tree and rare paper bark Albitzia.
