The word 'Etosha' means 'place of dry water’. The Etosha National Park centred around a large, flat calcite pan of about 5,010 square km in the northern part of Namibia. The famous Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s major wildlife sanctuaries which is home to about 153 mammal species including several rare and endangered species such as the black rhino, black-faced impala, tsessebe and gemsbok.
