Conservation with a Purpose

Erebero Hills is committed to an ambitious 45-acre reforestation initiative, creating a natural forest buffer around the lodge.

Over time, this growing forest will help restore habitat and create an accessible woodland area for the Batwa people, who can no longer enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The project also aims to provide sustainable income opportunities for surrounding communities, both through the planting programme and its long-term development.

Accommodation & Amenities

The lodge features eight beautifully designed forest-view suites, including two that can accommodate three guests. Built into the hillside, each suite has a private viewing deck overlooking the forest and valley beyond.

Floor-to-ceiling glass brings the surrounding landscape indoors, while natural light, elegant furnishings and spacious interiors create a refined yet calming atmosphere. Each suite includes a king-size bed, indoor and outdoor seating, and a practical boot room – ideal after a day of trekking.

The en-suite bathrooms are designed around the views, featuring a freestanding bathtub and both indoor and outdoor showers overlooking the forest.

Best Time to Visit

July – October

With relatively dry conditions, this is an excellent period for gorilla trekking. The forest remains lush and wildlife is active, while increasing rainfall later in the season brings more migrant bird species.

November – February

A wonderful alternative for travellers seeking fewer visitors. Trekking conditions are generally favourable, photography can be excellent and birdwatching is particularly rewarding. Rain showers are still possible, but trails are often relatively firm.

March – June

The wetter months transform Bwindi into an intensely green, atmospheric wilderness. Trekking can be muddier and more challenging, but the dramatic scenery and fewer visitors can make for a particularly intimate experience. Migratory birds are also present in impressive numbers, while conditions generally begin to improve again towards June.

Wildlife

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of Africa’s great biodiversity hotspots and is home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.

Beyond the gorillas, the forest supports more than 100 mammal species, over 350 bird species and more than 200 butterfly species, including an impressive variety of primates.

Forest elephants, monkeys and countless bird species inhabit this extraordinary ecosystem, making every trek and forest excursion an opportunity to discover something new.
