Ideal for both families, couples & groups of friends, Jaci’s Safari Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve promise a safari adventure that is notable for its friendly hospitality and beautiful wildlife. Guests are accommodated in luxuriously appointed bungalows, suites and tree houses and will savour many culinary pleasures while sharing the adventures of their time on safari.

Jaci's in Madikwe Game Reserve is in the last North West Province, about three and a half hour drive from Johannesburg. The reserve was established by combining redundant farmlands and consolidating them into a 185 Thousand acre conservation area that is by the government, the private sector, and the community local stakeholders.  

After an intensive phase of rehabilitation and restocking of wildlife, the reserve is now home to over 64 mammal species (including the Big 5) and 303 bird species. Accommodation is at two separate lodge venues and consists of 8 luxurious and vividly coloured tented style rooms, with a thatched roof and little stone walls.

The Nare and Safari Suites are well suited for family groups, accommodating up to 8 guests in absolute comfort. Additionally, you will have your private guide and safari vehicle.

Tree Lodge features luxurious rooms built on stilts above the ground, providing a lovely view of the treetops. Elevated walkways connect the eight rooms and enjoy beautiful views of the nearby Marico River.

Dining at Jacis Lodges Madikwe

At Jaci’s Lodges, in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, the chefs are dedicated to preparing fresh, wholesome and tasty dishes.

African-style spreads are served in the magnificent outdoor boma surrounding a roaring fire, or a more intimate affair can be served under the stars.

The menus at the Jaci's Lodges Madikwe feature seasonal South African produce and meats. A full brunch is available on return from the morning game drive, high tea is served during the afternoon, and a sumptuous dinner follows at night.

Game Drives

Jaci's Lodge offers twice-daily safari game drives into the stunning Madikwe Game Reserve. Each game drive lasts for roughly three-and-a-half hours. Jaci’s guides have a wealth of knowledge regarding the area, and they often share interesting snippets of information on local customs, flora, geology, history and geography during the game drives.

A fleet of rugged land cruisers offers premier game viewing along Madikwe’s trails. Morning drives include a hot chocolate, coffee, tea and home-baked rusks stop while the afternoon drive includes a sunset stop for drinks and snacks.


Jaci’s offers an on-site gym equipped with various equipment including treadmills and exercise bikes. The gym is perched under the shade of acacia trees, overlooking the river.

Jaci's starbed

There are a small watering hole and wetland area within a short walk to the lodge which attracts a wealth of wildlife. On the banks surrounding this watering hole, a little hide is located in which guests can sit and observe the animals. On top of the hole is a four-poster bed exists for those guests wanting to enjoy a night out in the wild.


Two swimming pools are on offer at the lodge. A small plunge pool makes for a refreshing dip while the larger pool is surrounded by lush green grass for guests to soak up the warm African sun. Guests staying at the Tree Lodge have access to a swimming pool surrounded by comfortable loungers.

Children Activities
  • Jaci’s Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa, is the place where owners Jaci and Jan raised their children. With this in mind, the kid's programme found here is one that is very close to the heart of this exclusive South African lodge.

    Exciting family game-drives are available as a parent does not only wonder at the magnificent wildlife but get a chance to see that wonder on their kids’ faces.  Jungle Drives for younger children, are shorter and packed with educational activities.

    Various other activities are available at the Jaci's Lodges Madikwe, including a games room and swimming pool, while the lodge’s chefs ensure the menu includes meals which children love.

Social Responsibility
  • The Jaci's Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa runs some small community service projects. The Madikwe Recycling project is led by the local community in collaboration with Collect-a-Can. Once the waste has been sorted, it is then compressed in a machine, and the compacted bricks are taken to the closest recycling depot.

    Jaci's also runs educational programs which teach school children about nature conservation and the importance of protecting wildlife.

    Jaci's Lodges Madikwe also offers their guests a variety of cookies produced by the Cape Town-based business, the Khayelitsha Cookie Company. This company was created for employment for the many unskilled, unemployed single mothers living in Cape Town.

Jaci Safari Lodge

Jaci’s Safari Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa features only a very few rooms, and an exclusive two bed roomed suite.

Shaggy thatched roofs, canvas walls, and large tinted windows create an authentic safari atmosphere. Private wooden viewing decks overlook a stream where animals and birds come to drink. Each room at the exclusive Jaci’s Safari Lodge offers a fireplace, an open-plan bathroom with a natural rock bath as well as an outdoor safari shower.

Jaci Tree Lodge

At Jaci’s Tree Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, each of the elevated treehouses has been crafted around an ancient Tamboti or Leadwood tree, using timber, thatch and canvas.

The chalets at Jaci's Tree Lodge feature en-suite bathrooms, as well as outdoor jungle showers beneath a canopy of trees. Raised wooden walkways link the tree houses to a central dining, lounge and bar are

Nare Suite

The Nare Suite, at the Jaci's Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve, is an exclusive bush retreat called after the resident buffalo bull who frequents the waterhole in front of this unique suite.

This suite can accommodate six guests at one time. The suite features open plan bathrooms have a handmade rock bath and outdoor shower.

The upstairs loft offers its toilet and is ideal for children. The Nare Suite at the Jaci's Lodges also features a wooden viewing deck which overlooks the waterhole. A private swimming pool, a private game vehicle and a professional guide are available to guests staying at the Nare Suite.

Had a great time at Jaci's, lovely lounge area, gad a great boma dinner and loved the Game Drives.





Jaci's was a great lodge to relax at, I had a great holiday, the views were great and lovely activities for kids.

Daily scheduled flights:

There are daily scheduled flights from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg direct to Jaci's Lodges. Private charters are also available on request.

Self-drive directions:

Jaci's Lodges Madikwe is an easy four-hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport. The quickest route from Johannesburg is to drive via Sun City, and then on to the Molatedi Gate in the south-western corner of the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Please contact the lodge directly when passing Sun City for more specific directions should you require them, and alert them so that they can prepare for the arrival. Please refuel at Sun Village/Zeerust as there is no fuel available in the reserve.

Please remember that although the gates into the Madikwe Game Reserve close at 21h00, guests are not permitted to drive unaccompanied in the reserve after 18h00. Should you expect to arrive after 18h00, please make prior arrangements for a lodge escort, an additional cost might be applicable per escorted trip.

Please DO NOT use GPS location systems to get to Jaci's Lodges - you will be advised on routes/roads that no longer exist.
