The Karongwe River Lodge, Karongwe game reserve in the heart of the 9000-hectare Karongwe Game Reserve in Limpopo, is a luxury bushveld getaway.

Guests are accommodated in luxury thatched-roof suites with private viewing decks, game drives happen twice a day and meals are served in the stunning dining room or the charming open boma. The reserve can be reached from Johannesburg within a four and a half hours drive.  Access by flights is provided by commercial aircraft daily to both Hoedspruit as well as Phalaborwa.

Accommodation at the lodge is in beautifully appointed thatched-roof suites. There are five Luxury, two Family and two Executive Suites as well as two Presidential Suites with their own private plunge pools.  The Karongwe River Lodge features four different suites each of which is equipped with exclusive furnishings and amenities.

With its two double beds, the lodge's Presidential Suite can accommodate four guests together in comfort. A private viewing deck, as well as a plunge pool, make these suites an exclusive safari treat for discerning guests.

Wildlife at the Karongwe Game Reserve, Limpopo Province, is abundant.  Many animal species can be encountered during the thrilling game drives or adventurous walking safaris such as elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes, wild dogs, cheetahs, spotted and brown hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, kudus, bushbucks, steenboks, duikers, impalas, waterbucks, black-backed and side-striped jackals, honey badgers, baboons, vervet monkeys, mongooses, warthogs, bush pigs and tortoise.

The Karongwe Nocturnal creatures which have made this game reserve their home are porcupines, aardvarks, civets, genets, caracals, servals, spring hares.  Water species that can be encountered at the Karongwe Game Reserve are hippos, crocodiles, otters and terrapins.  Many unique bird species can be observed here, especially at the big dams of the reserve and along the rivers.

Families with Kids

• Children are welcome at the Karongwe River Lodge.
• Children between 0 and two years old can stay on a complimentary basis.
• Children between the ages of 3 years to 11 years old are accommodated at 50% of the adult tariff, sharing a family room with adults.
• Children 12 age and older are considered adults and pay the applicable rate.
• Children under six years old are NOT permitted on any game activity unless approved by the Lodge Management on site. No prior approval shall be given.
• Children are required to stay with an adult on the safari drives.

Conferences

Meetings can be held at the neighbouring Shiduli Private Safari Lodge, which is in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. The venue can cater for up to 40 delegates.
