The Kichaka main lodge blends seamlessly into the magnificent landscape of the rolling green hills. The Kichaka lodge overlooks a large waterhole which is frequented by a hippo, giraffe, elephant and countless other game.
The lounge and dining areas have been built to provide a beautiful view over the untamed bush. Large terraces stretch over the waterhole and offer a magnificent viewing deck for guests. The garden also extends into a small island creating an enchanting outdoor dining area.
Guests are invited to relax and enjoy a swim with the hippos in the lodge's rim-flow pool adjacent to the waterhole or to enjoy the sun, cocktails and glorious views on the large pool terrace. Above the lounge, one can find a library, which is available as a meeting room overlooking the waterhole.
The immediate camp area is secured by discreet electric fencing to ensure the safety of guests and to deter elephants from destroying the trees. Due to this protection, guests staying at the Kichaka Lodge have the opportunity to walk freely around the camp and enjoy the local flora and birdlife.
Each of the ten exclusive suites has been built to provide every amenity, attention to detail ensures comfort and luxury. The well-appointed suites are stone and thatch. In secluded settings, the suites offer complete privacy and spaciousness.
Particular care has been taken to provide spectacular views from the lounge, bedroom, and bathroom of each suite at the Lodge. Each 70m² suite features a lounge area with large glass sliding doors on two sides which open wide, making these rooms part of the surrounding bush. Animals include; lions, elephants, rhinos and buffalo, as well as cheetah, hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, warthog and numerous species of antelope are enjoyed on safari drives across the open plains of the reserve.
The night safari drives offer guests the incredible opportunity to stargaze in wonder at the Southern Hemisphere's Milky Way and identify Orion's Belt, The Southern Cross and Scorpio with the guidance of the experienced rangers. Guests can also arrange a Cosmic Safari and view the wonders of space with the high-powered telescope. On night drives, the elusive aardvark, aardwolf and other game are often seen.
Large herds of plains game, including eland, gemsbok, springbok, wildebeest and zebra among others, which boasts diverse vegetation including five Biomes: savanna grassland, valley bushveld, fynbos, riverine forest and acacia woodland. Hippos regularly reside in the waterhole here, and sightings can be enjoyed from the comfort of the viewing deck.
Within the lodge area itself, guests can enjoy wildlife viewing from the main lodge over the waterhole, bird watching, swimming, and rest. Due to its prime location, the Lodge can be used as a base to explore the beautiful surrounding area.
