Situated in the magnificent Limpopo Province of South Africa is the Kololo Game Reserve. For more great wildlife viewing, the Kololo Lodge enjoys access to its neighbouring Welgevonden Game Reserve. This magnificent lodge is only a short 3 hours drive away from the Johannesburg International Airport.
The Lodge offers luxury accommodation in the form of upmarket villas and chalets. The cottages and villas are along the reserve grounds surrounded by the unique African bush. The cottages and villas provide guests with the utmost of privacy while on their holiday.
The cottages and villas vary from one to three bedrooms and offer something to meet any accommodation requirement. The villas provide the perfect accommodation for families. The lodge also offers self-catering facilities in some of its villas which include a fully equipped kitchen area. For the unique bush experience, the reserve also has a tented area.

The restaurant provides more than just a restaurant facility. The lodge also offers a lounge with a fireplace where guests can relax by the fire and enjoy a good book on cold chilly days as well as a swimming pool where guests can cool down on the hot sunny days.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and offers a delicious a la carte menu which has been specially designed for the lodge by their in-house gourmet chef.
Guests can enjoy exploring the reserve and the wildlife and fauna on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. There are over ten hiking trails which are scattered all around the reserve. These trails stretch from 2 km to 15 km, and there is a trail for every fitness type. Mountain bikers are also well catered for at the reserve. Guests are welcome to bring their bike and spend their days discovering the reserve with adrenaline pumping through their veins.
Visitors can also view the reserve from the animal's perspective while exploring the reserve on horseback. This is a fantastic way to get up close and personal with the smaller animals at the reserve as they are less threatened by the presence of the horses.
For larger wildlife viewing, guests can enjoy a safari drive into the "Big Five" Welgevonden Game Reserve. Here guests have the opportunity to view larger animals such as lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, giraffe and many more beautiful animal species. Guests are lead on an exciting adventure by an experienced guide who will share his knowledge of the animals, fauna and environment. South Africa's Reserve offers some fun activities for young explorers. Children can partake in safari drives, and bush walks around the reserve, where they learn about the animals, birds and fauna that call this little patch of land home.

Sports games include tug of water, water balloon fights and walking with eggs on spoon races to name but a few activities. For rainy days, the lodge offers indoor activities such as cooking courses where kids will learn how to make some traditional bush meals. Driving Directions from OR Tambo Johannesburg International Airport to the Kololo Game Reserve in the Waterberg, Limpopo Province:
1. Take the R21 North to Pretoria or Tshwane
2. Turn off from the R21 onto the N1
3. Continue north past Pretoria direction Pietersburg
4. Turn left on the R33 to Nylstroom at the Kranskop toll gate
5. Go through Nylstroom and Vaalwater and 8km after Vaalwater turn left on the Bakkerspas Road where you will find a sign to Kololo
6. Drive 29 km on a dirt road and find Kololos gate on your right.
