The Last Word Makanyane Safari Lodgenestles in malaria-free, Madikwe Wildlife Reserve in the Northern Region of South Africa.
The lodge consists of a central meeting and nine spacious suites, which sit in a forested ravine, looking over the River. Makanyane is situated on 1,810 hectares of private ground within the 75,010-acre Game Reserve, this unique safari lodge provides accommodation for a maximum of sixteen guests, ensuring that each guest has plenty of privacy and individual attention.
In the Central Lodge, the theme is warm tones and textures of Africa which is carried over into the guest suites. Natural building elements have been used throughout with locally collected rock for walls and use of locally harvested timber for setting against a thatched roof allowing the lodge blend discreetly into its surroundings.
The build incorporates allot glass allowing for the sensation of sitting in the wilderness. The open-fronted lounge with its private sundeck is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the untamed African bush.

The meals are imaginatively prepared by blending European and African experiences with the flavours and fresh local produce of the area to create delicious and memorable dining experiences. The exquisite cuisine is complemented by the excellent South African wines from the extensive cellar.
This 71,110-hectare game reserve invites either on foot or in an open vehicle to explore the wildlife. The Game Reserve is South Africa's second-largest game reserve, and Makanyane is on 1,711 hectares of private ground within the reserve.
The Makanyane reserve is a joint venture embracing the North West Parks and Tourism Board, the industry and local communities. The species which reside here include lion, leopard, black rhino and white rhino as well as extensive herds of elephant and buffalo. The rare African wild dog, the cheetah, spotted, and brown hyena, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope species also roam the reserve. Also, there are over 333 bird species that can be observed here.
