Roodewal Bush Lodge - A private, secluded retreat on the banks of the Timbavati River

Surrounded by lush riverine vegetation, including towering Natal Mahogany and Jackalberry trees, the lodge’s braai area provides a stunning natural backdrop—especially magical under Kruger’s star-filled skies. A standout feature of the lodge is its exceptional privacy, with individual sleeping units spaced apart to offer peace and seclusion for each guest or family.

Activities

No scheduled activities are available directly from Roodewal.  However, Guided Bush Walks and Game Drives (with trained field guides) can be arranged in advance through Satara Camp, subject to availability.

Travel Information

From Central Gauteng via Orpen Gate:

• Take the N4 toward Nelspruit
• Turn off onto the R540 at Belfast
• At Lydenburg, turn left onto the R36 north
• Roughly 30 km before Hoedspruit, turn right onto the R531 toward Orpen Gate
• Travel time to the gate: 4 to 5 hours.
• From Orpen Gate to Roodewal Bush Lodge: approx. 75 km / 3 hours

We recommend allowing extra time to fully enjoy the game viewing opportunities along the route.
