Itinerary

Upon arrival on the international flight in Nairobi, guests proceed to their private helicopter which flies them to the Solio lodge near the Aberdare highlands. It is here where an abundance of wildlife will be encountered including the black and white rhino, lions and herds of buffalo.

From the Solio Lodge guest then travel by helicopter to the luxurious Desert Rose Lodge where one can admire the astonishing rock formations of the Suguta Valley and descend to two remarkable lakes, Turkana and Logipi. See vast flocks of pink flamingo and take in the magnificent views.

After spending a lovely night at the Desert Rose Lodge, the journey continues to the Sasaab Camp over the Ndoto Mountains and the Mathews Range of northern Kenya.

At the Samburu National Reserve guests enjoy a late afternoon short scenic flight to see the rare Grevy’s zebra from above, landing on the sacred Samburu mountain, Ol Donyo Sabachi at 1,000m above the surrounding plains. We recommend you to enjoy an early evening walk to Sundowner Rock for panoramic vistas of the Mathews Range, which makes for a truly magical experience with a fantastic finish.

Best time to travel

This remote region of Kenya in East Africa is relatively unaffected by the seasons. The weather is generally sunny, hot and dry throughout the year. At the Desert Rose the months of October to January are the warmest and driest, July and August, the coolest. During this period this region often sees frequent and strong southerly and south-easterly winds.
