Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

The Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is near Montagu located at the base of the beautiful mountains in the Little Karoo, it takes about a 3-hour journey from Cape Town on Route 62 to reach it. Stretching over 130 thousands acres of beautiful savannah and mountains, where Africa's wildlife can be observed on safari drives and exciting walking safaris. Unique indigenous flora and fauna, rock formations and rock art make this wildlife destination a unique travel experience. This malaria-free wildlife reserve is home to an impressive selection of wildlife and succulents including the 'Big Five' and the rare free-roaming white lions.

The Sanbona reserve provides five-star accommodation at three luxurious lodges, namely Tilney Manor, Dwyka Tented Lodge and Gondwana Lodge. The adventurous Explorer Camp offers a more 'wild' safari experience in a tent. Tilney Manor reflects the grace and elegance of the colonial era. Beautifully set in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine surrounded by rock formations, the secluded Dwyka Tented Lodge displays an atmosphere of pioneering adventure in this vast landscape. Sanbona Tilney Manor consists of three separate buildings including six sizeable open plan suites each of which provides lovely views from the private verandas over the mountains and plains in the far distance. Indigenous gardens surround the lush oasis setting of Tilney Manor.

Gondwana Lodge

Twelve spacious suites overlook Bellair Dam, which resembles a typical thatched Karoo homestead. Endless views of the Anysberg-mountains, over the plains, and beyond can be admired from the Gondwana Lodge. Explorer Camp

The Explorer Camp is a camping experience reminiscent of safari days gone by. Guests camp in traditional unfenced tents and enjoy daily walks into the reserve to explore nature at its best. This experience is ideal for well-travelled guests who are looking for something different and would like to get back to life.

Activities

Thrilling outdoor activities await guests whereby they get to learn about the indigenous wildlife and the vegetation. Safari drives are conducted early in the mornings and late in the afternoons while visitors also have the choice to participate in the exciting walking safaris and the boat trips.

Children
