A unique opportunity emerged to transform a long-neglected hunting reserve into a pristine, protected ecotourism destination through a joint venture with a longstanding Sabi Sabi guest and philanthropist. Located in South Africa’s Limpopo province, the newly named Sandringham Private Game Reserve will now form part of the esteemed Sabi Sabi Collection.

Spanning 4,500 hectares, this reserve has long inspired the team, particularly due to its breathtaking setting along the Timbavati River.

In partnership with local authorities, the team is actively working to have the area officially declared a protected zone.  The long-term vision is to establish an open wildlife corridor linking the reserve to Kruger National Park—enabling unrestricted movement of wildlife across the Greater Kruger Protected Area.

Plans are underway to develop a lodge on the reserve, with a strong focus on sustainability and community development. A key component of this expansion is the recruitment and training of staff to the exceptional standards synonymous with the Sabi Sabi brand. In collaboration with the Sabi Sabi Foundation, they are committed to investing in local communities—creating opportunities for skills development and training in the safari and luxury hospitality sectors.

Our journey begins with the inclusion of Sandringham Private Game Reserve, where our focus remains the rehabilitation of a magnificent piece of wilderness to the level, we believe would be best suited for a wildlife and an eco-tourism offering we pride ourselves in.
