Shimuwini Bushveld Camp - A tranquil retreat beneath the ancient baobabs
The name Shimuwini, meaning “Place of the Baobab Tree” in Shangaan, beautifully reflects the camp’s serene setting along the banks of the Letaba River. Towering baobab trees - some estimated to be over 2,000 years old—line the riverfront, creating a timeless and iconic African landscape.
Rebuilt after the floods of 2000, Shimuwini is the most modern of Kruger’s bushveld camps, offering comfort and simplicity in one of the park’s most peaceful areas. The camp is exclusively for overnight guests, ensuring a quiet, uncrowded wilderness experience.
