Namib Desert

Being one of the oldest deserts, the Namib Desert in Namibia, Africa, is also one of the hardest areas in the world. The harsh and unique weather and landscape conditions have made this land home to numerous plant and animal species which are specially adapted to survive in the desert climate. In some parts of the Namib Desert, the usual fog which comes in from the Atlantic Ocean condenses to sustain plants like the multicoloured lichens and provide drinking water for some animal life. The unique vegetation of the Namib Desert consists mainly of plants which can live long dry periods as seeds to flourish after the rainfall. The famous dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia are amongst the highest dunes in the world. Exciting excursions to this beautiful, not to be missed location are available from this Lodge.
