Perched at the summit of the spectacular Naude's Nek Pass in the Eastern Cape Highlands, Tenahead Lodge & Spa offers an unforgettable mountain escape. Located approximately an hour's drive from the charming village of Rhodes, this secluded retreat is surrounded by dramatic landscapes and breathtaking scenery.

Standing at an impressive 2,500 metres above sea level, Tenahead proudly holds the distinction of being the highest mountain lodge in South Africa.

The lodge features seven spacious en-suite guest rooms, each thoughtfully designed with a cosy fireplace and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, creating a warm and inviting sanctuary throughout the year.

Dining

Dining at Tenahead is a highlight of every stay. Enjoy a memorable five-course plated dinner beside a roaring fire in an intimate setting. Mornings begin with a continental breakfast selection followed by a freshly prepared hot breakfast, while lunch is available from an à la carte menu.

Activities

Guests can unwind with a treatment at the spa, relax in the honesty bar, or explore the surrounding wilderness on scenic hiking trails. Horse riding is available for those wanting to discover the mountains on horseback, while fly fishing and birdwatching provide rewarding experiences for outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurous travellers with their own 4x4 vehicles can also tackle the property's rugged mountain tracks.

The landscape transforms with the seasons, from colourful wildflowers and cascading waterfalls during summer to crisp mountain air and occasional snowfall in winter.

Room Features

Each spacious room offers either a king-size bed or twin beds, a comfortable sleeper couch, fireplace, gas heater, tea and coffee station, television, honesty bar, safety deposit box, and an elegant en-suite bathroom complete with a Victorian-style bath and separate shower.

Access

Although the journey to Tenahead follows a winding gravel road through the mountains, the spectacular destination more than rewards the effort. A high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended for comfortable access.

Visitors not staying overnight are also welcome to enjoy lunch or afternoon tea while taking in the magnificent mountain surroundings.
