Thakadu River Camp Madikwe offers 12 tented camps which can accommodate a total of 24 guests.
Designed by Chris Rightford and Dave Gurney, each of the tented camps at the Thakadu River Lodge features a private viewing deck which overlooks the Marico River. Malaria-free, Big Five Madikwe Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa.
Thakadu is situated along the border to Botswana and only 22 kilometres away from Gaborone, the Camp features tented and lodge accommodation amongst the Lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld. The reserve showcases an incredible diversity of various species from both ecosystems.
Thakadu is unique as it is an owned and operated by the local village an ecotourism collaboration between the local government, the Molatedi and AHA hotel group.
The camp has a dedicated gate into the reserve, so guests are free to arrive and leave at their leisure. The tented accommodation is luxurious while the lodges are beautifully decorated and well-appointed. Within the canvas frame of the tent, the interior is well designed to include a full bathroom. Each of the tents has a sliding door which opens onto the deck.
Guests visiting in reserve have the chance to enjoy exciting safari drives through the untamed African bush. During close rendezvous with Africa's majestic animals, the guest learns about their behaviours.
