The Safari Lodge is in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park of South Africa. Thornhill is set only 44 kilometres from the Orpen Gate which leads into the Kruger National Park.
This lodge offers an ideal destination from which to both explore the untamed national park with its magnificent wildlife as well as the scenic Panorama Route with its many attractions.
The lodge features Double, Twin and Triple Rooms as well as Family Suites and a Luxury Honeymoon Suite. The rooms offer convenient amenities and features including en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities as well as wooden decks. The outdoor swimming pool offers an excellent place for refreshment and relaxation during the warm afternoons, in between safari drives and sightseeing tours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served outside weather permitting, at the boma around the crackling fire.
Guided safari drives are on offer which leads through the vast Kruger National Park. Other trips include visiting the many attractions of the scenic Panorama Route which include the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The Panorama Tour takes a full day during which travellers visit the various sightseeing location en-route, this is a trip not to be missed.
Thornhill nature reserve is not located in the 'Big Five' region of South Africa allowing travellers freedom while being outdoors. Guests can safely walk between the lodge's rooms and the main lodge without any danger of wildlife making it also an ideal destination for families travelling with children. The town of Hoedspruit, the Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS) as well as the entrance to the Kruger National Park through the Orpen Gate are all located nearby.
The tours through the Kruger Park have guided safaris in 4x4 vehicles and provide the best way to experience the wildlife and nature of this vast national park. Travellers have the chance of close encounters with lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos and leopards in their natural habitat.
