The luxurious 5 star Tintswalo Safari Lodge nestles in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa in the private Manyeleti Game Reserve.

This lush Tintswalo concession is beautifully situated between the Timbavati Private Reserve to the north, the famous Sabi Sand Reserve to the south and is open to the Greater Kruger National Park on its fenceless eastern boundary.

The Lodge rests amidst an ancient sycamore tree grove, which overlooks a waterhole frequented by herds of elephant and other big game. The Safari Lodge is a pristine wilderness reserve abounding in the big game and spectacular birdlife.

The Manyeleti Game Reserve is unique for its very low vehicle density and therefore offers a truly exclusive and memorable safari experience in the untamed African wilderness.

The lavish Lodge in South Africa is located along a seasonal riverbed among an ancient sycamore tree grove. The exquisitely appointed main lodge provides views over a waterhole where wildlife can be observed. The Explorer Suites are all linked to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways.

Tintswalo Safari Lodge

The Safari Lodge offers six exclusively appointed suites in addition to the regal presidential suite. The Tintswalo Safari Lodge provides the discerning traveller with an opportunity to truly relax and unwind in the most beautiful and natural surroundings.

The Presidential Suite at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge is authentically decorated to reflect the pioneering times of the nineteenth-century African explorers. This suite is ideally suitable for a family, or guests who prefer the ultimate exclusive safari and a flexible itinerary. It boasts two air-conditioned suites, which are connected by a spacious lounge, dining and open, plan kitchen area. The only indoor/outdoor showers lead off from the spacious bathrooms, which open out onto the deck with a large private plunge pool.

The Presidential Suite at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge is usually booked exclusively, whereby guests enjoy their private safari vehicle, private guide and tracker, private chef and butler. The team of staff is on hand to facilitate the discerning traveller's personalised itinerary. Furthermore, the Presidential Suite at the Safari Lodge features DSTV and a play station. For safety and convenience, the Presidential Suite is connected to the main Safari Lodge by a raised walkway.

Tintswalo Manor House

The Manor House is an intimate, homely setting with complete privacy located within the Tintswalo concession of the Manyeleti Game Reserve. Luxury en-suite air-conditioned rooms overlook a water hole.

The Manor House boasts a crystal blue swimming pool, dark shaded patio and a traditional boma. A minimum of 6 guests is required for Manor House bookings, with a maximum capacity of 10 guests. The Manor House staff is flexible to guests' needs and one safari vehicle, a guide and tracker are allocated to guests for their duration of the stay.

Downstairs the Manor House features three en-suite air-conditioned twin or double bedrooms. One of the bedrooms provides an optional child's room, which leads off it. Upstairs is the main double en-suite bedroom, which provides a beautiful view of the surrounding bushveld.

Dining can be enjoyed on the patio or in the open-air boma under the African night sky. Guests staying at the Manor House may benefit from the facilities of the Vital Source Spa and the Curio shop at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge.

The Manyeleti Game Reserve, Kruger National Park ( South Africa )

The Manyeleti Private Game Reserve is situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The Manyeleti Game Reserve in South Africa borders the Kruger National Park to the Eastern side, the Timbavati Reserve to the Northern side and the Sabi Sand Reserve to the Southern side, each of these regions are renowned for excellent safari experiences and wildlife sightings.

What makes the Manyeleti Game Reserve, South Africa, unique is the exceptionally small human: traverse land density ratio. With only two commercially operated lodges, a maximum of 8 safaris crosses the Manyeleti Game Reserve. It is said that this is one of the lowest vehicle density private reserves in the greater Kruger Park region. The 2 commercially operated lodges at the Manyeleti Game Reserve are Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps and the Tintswalo Safari Lodge.

Kruger National Park is one of the most diverse national parks in the world. It is home to a vast array of flora and fauna. No fences exist between the different game reserves, which means that animals are free to roam freely. The Tintswalo Safari Lodge is situated in an ideal "catchment" zone, which is attractive to a variety of wildlife species due to the high quality of the environment. The size of the reserve is 23500 hectares. (58750 acres).

Predators found in the Thornveld region are Lion, Cheetah, Hyena, Wild dog, Leopard and Black-backed Jackal. Browsers found in the region would be Kudu, Giraffe, Impala and Duiker, Bushbuck, Kudu and Nyala. Grazers are Wildebeest, Zebra, White Rhino, Waterbuck and large herds of buffalo are common on this soil type due to the abundance of quality grazing. Uncommon sightings are the Black Rhino and Sable antelope.

The Southern part of the reserve is referred to as the Mixed Bushwillow Woodlands Ecozone. The Mixed Bushwillow Woodlands Ecozone is found on underlying Granite bedrock giving rise to gently sloping hills and rocky outcrops with huge round boulders such as at the Koppies region in the reserve. Broad-leaved trees favour the higher upland areas while thorn trees prefer the lower-lying areas. Many rivers and streams are found in this region.

Predators found in the mixed Bushwillow ecozone are Lion, Side-striped Jackal, Hyena and Leopard. Browsers commonly found in the region would include Kudu, Giraffe, Impala, Klipspringer, Nyala, Bushbuck, and Steenbok. Grazers typically found in this region are many and varied such as Buffalo, White Rhino, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Warthog and Zebra. Wildlife

The wildlife found within the Big Five Manyeleti Game Reserve is plenty and varied - the Big Five being the five most dangerous animals to hunt on foot - including Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant.

From the more "exciting" predator species, such as the Lion, Cheetah, Hyena, Wild dog, Leopard, Side-striped Jackal and Black-backed Jackal, to the graceful antelopes including Kudu, Giraffe, Impala and Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbok, Bushbuck, and Nyala. Other species include Elephant, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, White Rhino, Waterbuck, Warthog and large herds of Buffalo.

Children of all ages are welcome at Tintswalo. The Tintswalo Children's Program aims to provide young guests with a fun, educational perspective of the African bush, thus enriching their safari experience at the Lodge.

On arrival, children are introduced to their Field Guide who informs them about the activities, workbook, and most importantly safety procedures. The children will each receive a "Brat Bag" with lots of goodies like pens, pencils, bino's, water bottle and an activity workbook for them to take home.

Each day's events are divided into themes concentrating on different aspects of the bush. Each theme consists of a talk, safari drive and activity. The themes below are a guideline of what can be offered, and the program is flexible to suit individual booking requirements.

On each safari drive snacks and drinks are provided. Special children's menus are also offered at the Lodge.

All activities in the Children's Program are age-appropriate and the program has been compiled by a professional educator with 8 years childcare experience. The Activity Workbook is designed for children of school-going age but activities for toddlers are arranged as well. Games and TV are also available. Childminding is available at additional cost, details provided on request. A Typical 5-day Children Safari Program includes ( subject to change ):

Children are encouraged to explore and find the Small 5, as well as other smaller creatures such as butterflies, lizards, frogs, etc. Birds can also be identified, the field guide will explain how to do this from various visual aspects as well as from bird calls.

Children Activity:

Mosaic pictures of little creatures can be made. Mosaic kits are supplied for the children.

Children accommodation: Children are ideally accommodated at Tintswalo Manor House in the special family section. This includes one Main Suite, a TV lounge and a children's room next door - sharing a bathroom. An extra bed can also be added into the Upstairs Suite.

The Manor House is fenced allowing children to play freely in the garden. The swimming pool is also protected by a net. The Presidential Suite at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge is more suitable for older children. There is a TV, PlayStation and swimming pool.

Directions to the Tintswalo Safari Lodge from Pretoria by road Proceed on the N4 East in the direction of Witbank.

1. As you pass Witbank continue east towards Belfast.
2. At the Belfast, sign turn left leaving the N4 and pass through the town.
3. Continue through Belfast on "Bhekumuzi Masango drive and turn right at "Steven Masango road" continue on the R540 and proceed towards Dullstroom 36km away.
4. Pass through Dullstroom towards Mashishing (Lydenburg) 57km further on.
5. At Mashishing the R540 becomes the R36, continue on the R36 for 52km towards Orighstad.
6. Pass through Orighstad on the R36 and continue towards the Abel Erasmus Pass.
7. Below the Pass proceed through the J.G. Strydom tunnel towards the Blyde Stop Garage.
8. Just past this garage (on your left) turn right onto the R531 at the Swadini Reptile Park.
9. Continue on the R531 for 30km towards Klaserie and ignore the turnoff to Hoedspruit.
10. At the Orpen, sign turn left towards the Orpen Gate and proceed for 33km.
11. Pass the South African Wildlife College on your left and just further on you will see the Tintswalo, Khoka Moya and L.E.A.T. trails sign, turn right.
12. Proceed on for 200m to the Manyeleti entrance gate where a nominal entrance fee is payable. Click here to view gate fees.
13. Once in the reserve follow the Tintswalo signs to the Lodge, approximately 8km sand road.
