The Wolwedans Dunes Camp set within the privately owned conservation area (over 200 000 hectares) of the of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Dunes Camp is newly constructed of raised wooden platforms, with a maximum of only twelve guests, has spacious and comfortable canvas-built rooms with a private bathroom, hot shower, washbasin and flush toilet.
Although very civilised, this camp is aimed at the traveller who doesn't require quite as many luxuries as there are available in the other Wolwedans sites and offers a more practical relaxed experience. The decks give a safe-space for choosing to sleep under the stars, (One of the best places on Earth to see stars, due to the lack of any light pollution.) Dunes Camp is on the edge of 250m high dune giving beautiful views of the desert landscape laid out before you.
Take a hot-air balloon or a flying safari to enable you to see some of the most remote ochre-coloured dunes and beautiful natural landscape of the area. Be adventurous and take a walking safari or 4x4 safari with local guides, to enable you to have the chance to visit some of the NamibRand Nature Reserve landscape, flora and fauna and various creatures close and personal. (Extra costs may apply to specific activities.) Multiple mammals roam freely in this area including several Hartmann's and Burchell's zebras, a tower of giraffes, herds of gemsbok, kudu, springbok, klipspringer, steenbok, hartebeest, blesbok, leopard, red hartebeest, spotted and brown hyena, black-backed jackal, bat-eared and Cape fox, caracal and the recently introduced cheetahs.
