Getting to Zannier Sonop

A soft-sided travel bag is recommended instead of a rigid suitcase, particularly for guests using small aircraft for internal transfers.

Self-driving is also a popular way to explore Namibia. Distances between destinations can be considerable, and while many roads are well maintained, some routes can be rough or uneven. A dependable vehicle, GPS or detailed map and appropriate tyre cover are recommended. It is also advisable to refuel whenever a petrol station is available, as services can be widely spaced.

Guests are encouraged to use water responsibly during their stay. Namibia is one of the world’s most arid countries, making conservation of this precious resource especially important.

Zannier Sonop is located in the Namib Desert, approximately 20 km from Betta, 250 km south of Mariental and around 500 km from Windhoek. Mariental is approximately 2½ hours away by road, while Windhoek is roughly six hours by car.

The lodge has its own private landing strip, allowing guests to arrive by light aircraft from various destinations across Africa. Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport is the nearest international gateway, approximately 1 hour 20 minutes away by air.
