Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Meet the Giraffes
Stay: Giraffe Manor, Nairobi
Your safari begins upon arrival at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you'll be welcomed by The Safari Collection before transferring to the world-famous Giraffe Manor.
Set within a private sanctuary, the elegant manor is home to a resident herd of endangered Rothschild's giraffes that freely wander the grounds and often visit guests throughout the day. These close encounters provide incredible photographic opportunities, from iconic giraffe portraits to memorable "giraffe selfie" moments. Resident warthogs also make entertaining subjects as they roam the gardens.
After lunch, explore the nearby Giraffe Centre or unwind at The Retreat with its swimming pool, spa, sauna, and hot tub.
Please note that the giraffes are free-roaming wild animals, so interactions cannot be guaranteed.
Days 2–4 – Samburu Photography Safari
Stay: Sasaab, Samburu
Begin the day with breakfast alongside the giraffes before transferring to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight to Samburu. Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed at Sasaab, a luxurious tented lodge overlooking Kenya's dramatic northern wilderness.
The rugged hills and striking landscapes of Samburu provide a spectacular contrast to other regions of Kenya, especially during golden-hour sunsets. Daily game drives offer exceptional opportunities to photograph the famous Samburu Special Five:
Large elephant herds are frequently encountered, while the vibrant culture of the Samburu people creates equally rewarding photographic moments. Capture beautifully beaded jewellery, colourful traditional attire, and authentic portraits with the guidance of your expert hosts.
When you're ready to take a break from photography, enjoy a variety of activities including:
Days 5–6 – Rhino Photography at Solio Lodge
Stay: Solio Lodge
A short private charter flight transports you from Samburu to Solio Conservancy, home to the exclusive Solio Lodge.
Nestled beneath Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains, Solio offers an entirely different landscape and is internationally recognised as one of Africa's finest rhino sanctuaries. Home to over 200 southern white rhinos and more than 100 endangered black rhinos, the reserve provides unrivalled opportunities to photograph these magnificent animals. It is not uncommon to encounter groups of 40 to 50 rhinos during a single game drive.
Alongside rhinos, you'll also photograph lions, leopards, plains game, and an impressive variety of birdlife while continuing to develop your photography with Robin Moore.
Optional activities include:
Day 7 – Relax Before Departure
Following a leisurely breakfast, fly back to Nairobi for your onward international flight.
Before departing, enjoy complimentary access to The Retreat at Giraffe Manor, where you can unwind beside the pool, enjoy the spa facilities, or simply relax after an unforgettable week in the African wilderness.
