Sample 6-Night Safari Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival at Jumbo Junction


Arrive by charter flight and transfer to Jumbo Junction, the home of Bontsintsi Horse Safaris. After settling into camp, enjoy a relaxed introductory ride designed to familiarise you with your horse and riding as a group. The evening is spent enjoying delicious cuisine, warm hospitality, and stories around the campfire before your adventure begins.

Day 2 – Into the Delta

Set off early for your first full day on horseback as you explore the heart of the Okavango Delta. Pause beneath towering indigenous trees for brunch and a midday rest before continuing to your first mobile bush camp. End the day watching the sun set across the wetlands before enjoying dinner around the fire.

Day 3 – Exploring the Wetlands

Begin the day with another rewarding horseback ride before returning to camp for brunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, experience the Delta from a different perspective with either a traditional mokoro excursion or a guided game drive, followed by sundowners overlooking the wilderness.

Day 4 – Journey to Mobile Camp Two

Ride through changing landscapes to your second bush camp, arriving in time for brunch and a well-earned rest. Later, enjoy a guided bush walk or afternoon game drive before another memorable evening beneath the African sky.

Day 5 – A Day of Adventure

After an early morning ride, spend the hottest part of the day relaxing at camp before heading out on an afternoon game drive in search of the Delta's remarkable wildlife. Return to camp for dinner and prepare for the final full day of riding.

Day 6 – Return to Base Camp

Embark on a full-day horseback journey back towards Jumbo Junction, stopping for brunch beneath shady trees along the way. At the Selinda Spillway, swap your saddle for a scenic boat cruise followed by a game drive back to camp, where a celebratory final evening awaits.

Day 7 – Farewell to the Delta

If time permits, enjoy a peaceful early morning mokoro excursion or guided bush walk before breakfast. Bid farewell to your guides, horses, and fellow travellers before your transfer for your onward journey.

Getting to Bontsintsi Horse Safaris By Air

Guests typically arrive via Seronga Airstrip, followed by a scenic 25-minute game-viewing road transfer to Jumbo Junction.

Approximate flight times:

  • Maun: 45 minutes
  • Kasane: 90 minutes


Private helicopters can also land at the camp's dedicated helipad by prior arrangement.

Getting there By Boat

Guests travelling by self-drive vehicle to Sepupa can enjoy a scenic 1 to 1½-hour boat cruise across the beautiful Okavango Panhandle to Seronga, where they will be met for the final 25-minute vehicle transfer to camp.

Access By Road

Self-drive guests can travel from Maun via Shakawe, crossing the new bridge before continuing along approximately two hours of gravel road to the camp. The total driving time is around 4 to 5 hours, with clear directional signage leading to Jumbo Junction.
