The Kapama River Lodge three-star lodge enjoys a place within the wildlife-rich reserve near the Kruger. Featuring a total of 66 bedrooms, this lodge at Kapama nestles on a bend of the river. Being the big lodge within the reserve, it is stylishly furnished to ensure comfort and relaxation combined with a most memorable African safari experience.

The lodge climate controlled suites offer prevailing scenes over the reserve from their terraces. En-suite bathrooms with exclusive amenities are available. Furnished to reflect old African, refreshment stations for early morning coffee & tea are available as well as minibars for sundowners on the secluded terrace.

Thrilling activities await guests staying at this private safari lodge in South Africa. Two safari drives a day to allow guests to get up close to the magnificent wildlife while trekking safaris, hot air balloon safaris, as well as elephant-back safaris, are also on offer.

River Lodge has African decor the welcoming and comfortable rooms with red & gold reflecting the bright colours of Africa’s earth. Modern glass stack doors open onto the outdoor, rim-flow swimming pool creating an al fresco experience. The lounge and bar set under double-volume thatch follow the line of the swimming pool to establish an open and cosy atmosphere. During the colder winter months, the double-sided fireplace offers warmth.

Wine Cellar

Kapama features an excellent wine cellar which has the most exquisite South African wines. Well over 600 wine bottles are available to choose from which is in a temperature-controlled and humidified environment. The exception of French champagne, all the wines, and sparkling Cap Classiques found in this wine cellar is from excellent South African vineyards.

Media Room

For travellers who wish to stay connected with the outside world, the Media Room provides a satellite television as well as a DVD player. The lodge's Media Room can also be changed into a private conference venue. Guest Internet facilities are available adjacent, for convenience.


Children of all ages are welcome however a responsible adult must accompany children under the age of sixteen during safari drives and bush walks. Children can go on safari drives and walks at the sole discretion of the ranger.
