Dining at the Kapama River Lodge
Evening meals will be around a roaring fire in the lodge's intimate boma. Lodge buffet meals served under open-sided thatch showcase African dishes which from fresh local ingredients. Traditional venison dishes are also available in this unique bushveld, dining setting. Furthermore, the romantic at heart may dine in the dry riverbed located in front of the lodge under the bright, star-studded African sky. The lodge's lounge is an enclosed dining venue where breakfasts and lunches are available.

Swimming Pool
Lounge chairs under umbrellas await guests to enjoy shady relaxation around the lodge's outdoor swimming pool, which also provides a prime vantage point for game viewing.
Game Viewing
Being home to the 'Big 5', namely Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Elephant and Rhinoceros, game viewing in the Kapama Game Reserve is a unique and rewarding adventure experience.
There are two game drives a day available at the lodge; one safari is available early in the mornings while the other one is available in the late afternoons/evenings. The rangers point out interesting animals and plants, explain the ecosystem and interdependence of species. General game species which can also be found within the reserve are Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebra, Warthog and various Antelope species.

The Kapama Game Reserve is located approximately 5,5 hours from Johannesburg and routes through Dullstroom.
Daily flights are available to the Eastgate Airport (HDS), transfers are provided in open landrovers directly from the airport to any of the game lodges in the Kapama Game Reserve.

Kapama Game Reserve.
Take either the N12 or the N4 from Johannesburg to Witbank and Middelburg. Turn onto the R540 towards Belfast, Dullstroom and Lydenburg. Dullstroom is set on the highveld and is an ideal point for exploring the region. The village has a quaint old-world atmosphere and is famous for its trout fishing. This is an ideal halfway stop on the way to Kapama Private Game Reserve. From Lydenburg proceed on the R36 to Orighstad, through the Strydom Tunnel to Hoedspruit.
This scenic drive through Mpumalanga has awesome landscapes and unforgettable views. Drive up the mountain passes onto the escarpment and look down onto the wonders of the lowveld. At the Strydom Tunnel there are a number of stalls selling ethnic curios from the area.
At Hoedspruit, take the R40 to Klaserie.
For Kapama Lodge, continue on the R40 and turn left at the Eastgate Airport turn-off and continue for 15 km. Turn right at the Guernsey turn-off and continue on the gravel road for another 10 km. The Kapama Lodge entrance will be on your left-hand side.
