Dining

Delicious breakfast and lunch are available for guests in the lodge's elegant, open-sided dining room, which provides an enchanting and unforgettable dining experience. The decor is contemporary, inspired by the lodge's unspoilt, surrounding nature. The wine cellar at the Kapama Southern Camp, which is a central feature of the dining venue, offers an excellent South African wine estate collection which is showcased behind frameless glass. The traditional outdoor boma of the lodge is the most attractive location for the dinners. Firelight and starry skies combined with diverse and exquisite cuisine make for a classic dining experience.

Game drives

The sunset and sunrise game drives are accompanied by a professional game ranger and tracker during which guests can expect to encounter great variety of animal and bird species.  As the Kapama Private Game Reserve is home to the "Big Five",  the chances of seeing leopards, lions, elephants, rhinos as well as buffaloes over a two-day safari are very likely.

Bush walks

On the guided bush walk with game rangers, guests experience the thrill of amazing encounters with nature and wildlife.  The rangers also teach participants to track wildlife by making use of animal footprints.  A walking safari through the untamed Kapama Private Game Reserve is a truly authentic and memorable nature experience.

Spa treatments

The Kapama Wellness Centre is considered as one of the finest safari spas on the African continent.  Its six exclusive treatment rooms are located around the lap pool.  The treatment menu includes a full range of body and beauty treatments.  Unique African-inspired treatments are available on the menu to offer rejuvenation and relaxation.

Visitors may enjoy the signature four-hour Marula Miracle Moments treatment which includes a body wrap, facial, massage and more.  As an alternative, the Kapama Pinotage Bliss uses vine-infused products while the Marula Sensual Steam Treatment is also a great recommendation.

Elephant back safari

Riding on the back of an African elephant during a stay at the Kapama Southern Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime experience not to be forgotten.  Instead of participating in the early morning game drive, are taken to the Kapama elephant herd.

Before the ride, trained elephant handlers show guests how to get onto the saddle on the elephant’s back as well as how to follow the rhythmic strides while moving through the bushveld. Each of the elephants has a handler who guides his charge during the walk.  After about an hour’s ride, the elephant herd returns back to the boma.

Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species

In order to see rare wildlife from a close distance, guests are encouraged to take a late morning trip, after the game drive and breakfast, to the nearby Hoedspruit Centre for Endangered Species.  It is here where wild dog, cheetah, serval and caracal as well as various other wildlife species are rehabilitated.

The rare king cheetah can also be seen here.  An educational video is presented as part of the tour at the Centre which showcases the different projects undertaken. It is followed by a guided tour to view cheetah and other fascinating wildlife. Guests are accompanied by a ranger of the Kapama Lodge.
