Rra Dinare Camp Highlights
The Rra Dinare Story
Rra Dinare is a relaxed and authentic camp with a strong sense of place and community. Its character is rooted in a conservation story that has helped transform the way tourism benefits both wildlife and local people.
Situated just south of the Moremi Game Reserve, the concession contains important dry-season water sources that attract wildlife when conditions become challenging. The area was previously used for controlled trophy hunting, but in the early 2000s Botswana moved towards a low-impact, high-value photographic safari model. The aim was to replace hunting revenue with sustainable tourism that could generate long-term benefits for both conservation and surrounding communities.
Today, Rra Dinare represents this community-focused approach to conservation. Located on the opposite side of the concession from Mma Dinare, it offers a somewhat different setting for wildlife viewing, with wooded areas favoured by leopards and seasonal waterways that draw migrating wildlife.
Game drives often take guests into the midst of large buffalo herds, creating thrilling opportunities to observe the natural relationship between prey and the predators that follow them.
Activities
All experiences are led by Kwando’s experienced guide and tracker teams, with activities adapted according to the season, wildlife movements and guest interests.
The Camp
In Setswana, “Dinare” means “many buffalo”, an apt name given the large herds that frequently gather on the lush floodplains in front of camp. Lions are often nearby, creating exciting wildlife encounters.
A circular viewing deck beside the campfire provides an ideal vantage point for watching the action while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Facilities
