The Mabalingwe Nature Reserve in the Waterberg region, exciting recreational activities such as safari drives, tennis and squash are available.

After a fun-filled day of activities, guests can indulge in a delicious meal at the Tshukudu Restaurant, while drinking cocktails against the backdrop of the setting sun, listening to nocturnal calls of the wild.

The reserve is in the Malaria-free Game Reserve, Limpopo, which is also home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo & leopard. This area is also well known for hippos, giraffe, and hyenas to name but a few of the 37 species of wildlife.

For bird-watching enthusiasts, there are more than 250 species of birds to be spotted. The Lodge provides affordable accommodation ranging from self-catering chalets to en-suite lodge rooms and rustic bush camps. Guests are invited to enjoy wildlife viewing from open safari vehicles or atop the ambling gait of the horses, with sleepovers at the various bush camps.

Guests may choose from different accommodation options when coming to stay here which are; Lodge, Chalets, Bush Camps. The Tlou Lodge is made up of 53 stylish cottages and can accommodate a total of 106 visitors. The Tlou Lodge is an ideal "getaway" home for those guests not wishing to be involved in anything more than nature and its animal life.

Five thatched camps are stretching from Kubu Camp at the northern tip to the southernmost Ingwe Camp situated next to the main camp buildings. All camps are self-catering chalets complete with; lounge, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Amongst other features of each building is the patio and braai area from where the visitor to the resort can enjoy some of the Limpopo Province's most remarkable sunsets. The four and six-bed chalets provide the traveller with "a home from home" comforts and whether it's a summer or winter visit has got to be judged as the perfect "all year" round experience.

The Pitsi Bush Camp caters for a group of ten people, which is hidden away from the rest of the camps on the reserve. For guests who seek ultimate privacy and great bush experience, this would be the lodge of choice. With electricity in the camp, this retreat is fully equipped and has hot and cold running water and a splash pool to make use of in the heat of summer.

The Kalahari Tented Camp is at the foot of the mountains rolling through the reserve and caters for family and group getaways. The central, fully equipped kitchen is at the end of the walkway and is easily accessible. A central kitchen and ablution facilities are available to guests in very proximity.

Nestling in the heart of the bushveld, and less than 2 hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria; this Game Reserve has become well knows as the perfect location for private functions as well as corporate conferences and team-building getaways.

The Tlou conference centre has the capacity and flexibility to cater for functions of up to 250 delegates on a full board basis. Guest Accommodation is in either twin-bedded rooms at the Tlou Lodge camp or in timeshare units. All timeshare camps are within a few minute's drives to the main conference centre, which is conveniently close to the Tshukudu a-la-carte and Kubu Boma bush restaurants.

The Lodge provides different activities for its guests:

  • 4x4 Trail: guests may challenge themselves and their vehicle on a journey with spectacular views and sunsets
  • 4x4 Track: responsible 4x4 drivers can use the track which is designed by 4x4 specialists
  • Games Drives: Guests have the opportunity to experience Africa in an open safari drive vehicle. Safari drives are available all through the day at different times.
  • Night Drives: enjoy a night safari drive with the lodge's trained and qualified field guides to shine some light on nocturnal animals such as owls, jackal, bush babies and many other creatures of the night which provide for a very educational experience.
  • Guests are also allowed to do wildlife viewing with their private vehicles during the daytime only.
