Maxa Camp

★ ★ ★ ★

Maxa Luxury Tented Camp rests gracefully under the shade of majestic Ebony trees, providing breathtaking views of the expansive Maxa Lagoon, home to hippos, in the northeastern reaches of the Okavango Delta near the source of the Selinda Spillway.

Situated amidst seldom-explored seasonal floodplains, diverse flora, and distinctive ecosystems, Maxa is nestled within the Kaza Transfrontier Park—an extraordinary region spanning nearly half the size of California. The park's intricate network of permanent and seasonal channels and lagoons creates an enchanting natural setting.

Maxa embraces a philosophy of exploration, learning, and connecting deeply with nature. This vision is reflected in the camp's design, featuring an open lounge and dining area under light canvas roofs, complemented by traditional clay walls. Handmade local furniture infuses the decor with creativity and warmth, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

The camp's courtyard, situated on the soft white sands of the delta between the lounge and dining spaces, invites guests to dine at picnic-style tables either shaded by trees or basking under the open sky. A standout feature of this communal area is the termite mound that once helped shape the island. Guests are greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread and muffins from the wood-fired oven, which also produces delightful dishes prepared by the camp's chef.

At the edge of the camp’s riverine forest and overlooking the lagoon, a cluster of Ebony trees forms a serene retreat. Here, guests will find a shaded Sala with a cushioned daybed and an elevated deck adorned with a hammock of cargo netting, pillows, and cushions—a perfect space for relaxation amidst the tranquil surroundings.

Maxa accommodates up to 12 guests, offering four beautifully crafted stretch canvas tents, each with a deck and ensuite indoor bathroom paired with an open-air outdoor bathroom. The Maxa family tent features two bedrooms, a shared ensuite bathroom, and an outdoor bathroom for added convenience.
