ThrillingThrilling safari drives, interesting cultural visits, unforgettable bush dinners and sundowners, as well as scenic flights and balloon rides make for a memorable stay at Sanctuary Olonana Camp. The luxury safari camp enjoys a prime location on a private stretch of Kenya Mara River in the wildlife-rich reserve of the Masai Mara.

Featuring fourteen well-appointed luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms, guests enjoy great river views and may watch the resident hippos wallowing nearby. The tents provide two double beds with floor to ceiling mosquito netting. Families travelling with children are accommodated in comfort sharing a luxury tent. Two honeymoon suites, each featuring outdoor showers, are also available.

At this camp, wildlife viewing starts from the camp itself. With a pod of hippos living in the river near the camp, many other animals come to drink. Gets have the chance to learn about the traditional and vibrant way of life of the Maasai by visiting a nearby village. During the interactive nature walks, guests experience the untamed African bushveld up close and personal while learning about plants, insects and trees.

Family on Safari

Olonana Camp welcomes children of all ages. The Family Rooms offer two double beds making it possible for the children to share the same room with the parents. Exciting children activities are on offer which includes specialised safari drives as well as a visit to the nearby Masai village. Kids learn how to make and shoot a bow and arrow, how to prepare and deliver a fire, how to build a hut and how to herd cattle.

Health and Beauty Spa

In between wildlife viewing activities, visitors may enjoy relaxing spa and beauty treatments including facials and body massages. Guests have the choice of various rejuvenating treatments such as a full-body sweat and savoury scrub, a pure collagen velvet mask, an endocrine treatment journey or an Africology balancing scalp and foot massage.

Manicures and copper & hot stone pedicures can also be booked. The spectacular vistas over the Mara River and the soothing sound of the nearby river make for a magnificent retreat for relaxation.

Access

Various daily scheduled flights can be booked to and from the Mara. In Kenya's city of Nairobi, scheduled flights depart from the Wilson Airport (about 45 minutes). Also, a flight is available from Samburu to the Mara and scheduled flights from the Mara to the coast of Kenya.

The flights to Sanctuary Olonana land at the Kichwa Tembo Airstrip where guests meet their guide who transfers them to the camp which takes approximately 15 minutes. Access by road is by driving to the Mara through the Rift Valley and takes about six hours from the city of Nairobi.
