The Tangala Safari Camp nestles in the game-rich Thornybush Game Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park of South Africa.  Home to be Big Five which includes lions, rhinos, buffaloes, elephants and leopards, guests are accommodated in well-appointed chalets and luxury tents.  The safari camp offers views of the waterhole, the open plains across to the dramatic Drakensberg mountain range.

This lodge features four well-appointed Chalets as well as six Luxury Tents which are complete with patios, comfortable beds under mosquito nets as well as en-suite bathrooms.  The bathrooms provide two basins, his and hers basin, a shower and a toilet.  The camp retains its closeness to nature and its authenticity by operating with solar power and natural gas to fuel the lodge.

Access

To reach Tangala from Johannesburg takes about 4 and bit hours by car.  Travellers can also access Tangala via the Hoedspruit Airport from where the camp is only a 32 minutes drive away.  Direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg can be booked to Hoedspruit making this lodge readily available to visitors.

Directions

Driving directions from Hoedspruit to the Tangala Safari Camp in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve:

From Johannesburg to Tangala (6 hours):

The N12 to Emalahleni (Witbank), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway.

Continue with the N4 in the direction Mbombela (Nelspruit).

Approximately 60 km past Middleburg take the R 540 to your left towards Belfast.

Travel though the towns of eMakhazeni (Belfast) and eMnotweni (Dullstroom) to Mashishing (Lydenburg).

Take the R 36 (which becomes the R 527) towards Hoedspruit, passing through Ohrigstad and descending down the Able Erasmus Pass.

At Hoedspruit (40min to 1hour to lodge) continue through town, over the railway bridge and at the 4way stop take the R 40 south (to the right) towards Bushbuckridge/Klaserie.

After about 22km take a left turn onto the Guernsey road.

(It is the 2nd main road to the left after Hoedspruit).

Guernsey road is a 12km stretch and it will become a gravel road after approximately 5km.

At the T-junction turn right, Tangala’s gate will be 200m further on your left.

From the gate to the lodge is 7.2km
